    Make 10 a day October 2016 Everybody Welcome 30th Sep 16 at 10:43 PM
    Hello and welcome everybody

This is the 110th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007.

Thanks to Batgirl for starting it, lynnejk, Rawdinosaur, Emmaglet, Nat21luv, Monkeynut, Sweetpeas, Purpleroses, JesaRose, MizMir for keeping the thread going.

I know this first post is long, but please read as it give tips on how this challenge works. Some of the content has changed

If you're new to the challenge don't be scared - here's how it works:

The aim of this challenge is to make 10 extra a day everyday for the month. A lot of people think this is impossible but it can and has been done, over and over. If you feel 10 is too much why not start at 5 or if you're brave join those who aim for 20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage.

It also doesn't have to be 10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for 300 extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

    What cannot be added:

    Wages from your main job

    What can be added:
    Overtime
    Income from a second job
    Daily clicks
    Interest
    Vouchers
    Mystery shopping
    And much, much more.

This board moves pretty quickly, so be sure to subscribe and read it regularly. Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

Ebay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Sealed Pot Challenge 2016 - basically you put your change into a jar over the year so in December you should have a nice pot of money to help

Mobile phone to recycle? try Martin's mobile recycling comparison site first to see where you may get the best deal!

Music Magpie - have cds/dvds you haven't been able to sell at carboots or online. Try your luck here. Is you do sell your albums/dvds be sure to go via quidco to get a few more pennies

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect Boots points while shopping online.

Don't forget to search for your online shop at nectar.com before you buy, and earn nectar points for buying online, including ebay.

Trying to find other ways to make money? Check out the Boost Your Income board. It is full of ideas, including survey companies and product testing.

Want to help someone else out? Sign up through their referral on the referral board, and leave yours, so someone else can do the same for you.

Keep reading for lots more ideas on how to make more money each month.

This month's challenge is to try and make 300 (or any amount of course!) lynnejk is assisting me and will create the challengers list and update it. She will also be answering any questions she can help with and here for general advice. Having been a challenger for a while, she knows her stuff Thank you lynnejk for your help.

Good luck everybody. Remember to post any questions or comments that you have, and let's go on encouraging each other throughout this month.

We can and we will do it. Who's in?

Definitely worth more than 25. Try Gumtree before eBay to avoid fees, and if you use Facebook, look for some local selling groups. You should be able to get the 50 for it. I've sold a used one before (when I upgraded) through Gumtree.

I realise I'm very lucky to have savings. I've always been a bit of a hoarder and not a spendthrift (have managed to train my partner as well!). Mind you, that interest is going to drop a bit once Santander cuts the rate on the 123 account, but I'll be checking to see if there are better placed to stash the loot once it happens. As we always say in our house, I will do whatever St Martin tells me to do!

Well done on the MS jobs, Aesop. As you say, needs must. I know exactly what you mean.

Every year I say I won't deliver Phone Books and Yellow Pages any more but I always end up doing it. I quite enjoy it in a strange kind of way (if the weather is good) and the exercise won't do me any harm either. It's a lot easier and quicker now I've got all the out of the way lanes and farms sussed but it's not all that cost effective with all the mileage I have to do and I often fear for the suspension of my old car down some of those rickety potholded tracks. OH reckons it's a mugs game but the money is a lifesaver to me.

Just received 7 from postal survey. Nothing else to declare today.

    Evening lovely peoples

Super duper money-making going on - well done one and all

Know what you mean Aesop about the MS and CBC with the yellow books, but hey-ho it's all about the pennies eh. I have done the phone books in the past and still MS when there's one near enough to make it worthwhile and know there's more to both than most people would realise

Today I won 2 x 2 from last GFK survey and 5.80 from other surveys, so 9.80 altogether to add

Hope you all have a super Saturday

9 from good old Pinecone (definitely my favourite survey site). I also got paid for all the supply teaching I did last month (not part of the challenge, as it's my job,but very exciting as my last salary was end of August, so I had nothing coming in in September). Sadly, despite me giving the agency my P45, they have taxed me at BR - hopefully I'll get it back next time I work for them, or if not it will have to wait until I do this year's tax return (incentive to do it early rather than leaving it to January as I usually do!)

Well done to everyone who has made anything so early in the month. Lots of lovely totals totting up

Bought a Euromillions ticket yesterday seeing as it was such a massive rollover. Well, I can dream can't I?. The cashier had already printed it out before I realised it's gone up to 2.50 a ticket now. Wouldn't have bought it if I'd known the price. Shows how often I have a go on it, I didn't even know it had gone up.

Anyway, brilliant news (no, sadly not the mega-million jackpot) but I did win 66.90 for 3 numbers and both stars

For some strange reason (brain fade or, hopefully not, the onset of dementia) I completely forgot my pin number when shopping at Morrisons this morning and after 2 goes the lady on the till said they only let you have 3 tries so I thought it best to give up and pay by cash. Can't risk having my one and only card swallowed up. So I had to use all (and some) of the money I'd just cashed out from the lottery. Good job I had it, it would have been very embarrassing having to leave a trolley full of shopping behind

Adding my winnings (minus cost of ticket) to my monthly total though as it was money I didn't have before.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes on the lottery win. Needless to say I didn't buy a ticket for last night's draw. Don't want to get into the habit as I can't afford it on a regular basis.

The win will come in very handy this month as the outdoor car boot sales I sell at have closed now for the season. There'll be some indoor table-top sales through the winter but profits are a bit limited at those. Will still do some but a lot of the stuff I sell isn't suitable for a small table and the limited space round it.

Am going to spend some time today investigating Etsy. I haven't any saleable handcrafted items (no one in their right mind could possibly want to buy anything I'd made) but have some materials and vintage sewing and knitting patterns that might do OK.

Have a good day, everyone, whatever you're up to
