How many of us have been given one of the new 5 notes yet ?
If you want one there are plenty for sale on Ebay. But they're going to cost you a lot more than a fiver.

I think i'll wait until i get one in my change.

I saw and handled three on Saturday at work. I probably handled 50-55 fivers that day. Been on annual leave since Sunday and Italy since Monday.

Over the weeks and months, there would be more new fivers coming in and less of the Elizabeth Fry ones.

Got til 5th May 2017 to use the EF one.

I got one a week ago from the cash point at the ilfracombe Tesco.

I saw one for the first time this morning. It has Winston Churchill on the back, and it appears to be made of a plastic-like material, so stronger than the usual paper notes. The colours look deeper than usual, too.

I've seen quite a few of the new fivers, seeing as everyone who gets one is compelled to whip it out and say "look! Look at it! it's made of plastic, JUST LOOK AT IT" And then crumple it up to demonstrate it's durability.

I swapped an old fiver for a new one last week. I think I was the only idiot who was expected something much more plasticy

One day all Banknotes will be made this way..

I like it. It feels kind of nifty. I had one last week and I was reluctant to spend it..It has an ornamental look about it. Anyway it's sitting on my mantel-piece next to the Wooden Owl.

    The new 5 note.

    As in ........ cash?
    Dosh?
    Moolah?
    It's a bit ....... well, old-fasioned isn't it?
I mean, honestly, card transactions are already almost equal in number to cash transactions in the UK and are predicted to be higher than cash by 2021 (*1).
Now that you can just wave a card at a reader - or even a phone you don't need a wallet full of paper and pockets full of coins.

So I suppose they had to do something to make these bits of paper last longer.
Now, can we get rid of 1p & 2p coins?

They're rubbish. As soon as they're folded to fit into a pocket/purse/to hold in your hand to keep out of reach of thieves until you can stop and put them in a wallet, etc, they're permanently creased and can't be smoothed out.

And they're roughly the size of Monopoly notes - they catch the wind exceptionally well, too, as I saw several times on the coast this weekend.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I got one from a cash machine today. It was in my possession for approximately two and a half minutes. I don't really see the big deal.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
