Back in debt but not out 2nd Aug 16 at 5:58 AM
    Hi,

It's been over a year since I was here last.

Last time, we managed to get debt free by consolidating our debts, but due to a lot of things we are back in debt again.

This past month has brought things to a head, we've been rather stupid and things have gotten out of control.

So where are we with the debt:

    Barclaycard: £8829.88
    Overdraft: £2750.00
    Total: £11, 579.88

Ignoring the OD for the moment, as I'm not too worried about that one, I need to make headway on sorting the BC out.

Things coming up this month are:

    DD's birthday
    Pay remainder of DD's party
Pay for food at DD's party - already ordered just needs paying
    Pay for DD's cake
    School uniforms for both kids

Will post my plan in the next post, back in moment

    Weekend is here
Things change so rapidly, last conversation with the sellers EA was they're trying to get in touch with the top of the chain, they've said no to 31st March (boo!) but 6th April was mentioned by them right at the start, us three in the chain are in agreement with the 6th just need them to agree then we can go ahead.

So now we've got three weekends to declutter more stuff.

Bought some Oven Pride to blitz the oven, it does need it and can't have the buyers thinking we don't care.

    Things to do this weekend:
    Washing
    Ironing
    Kids to change their beds
    Clean the oven
    Clear DD's room of toys/junk
DH to clear loft - dump runs
Food inventory - try to menu plan with what we've got
Declutter kitchen cupboards - dump/charity shop

There's more to add to the list but above are the main ones.

Finances wise everything is on hold temporarily now until we move. I can then sort out a proper budget then and a way to move forward.

Right cuppa tea, shower and then on with the show! Have a great day everyone.

16 years of accumulated crap in the loft and we're not even half way through. Three trips to the dump, two to the charity shop. Charity shop stuff did include some of my stuff from my flat when I moved down here as well as decluttering of clothes.

It was a bit hard getting rid of a few bits that were given to us respectively by each dad but we did it, more to sort tomorrow.

Inventory done of the food, just need to figure out what to eat out of it....will head on over to the grocery board and see what they've got recipe wise.

Picked up DD's uniform from next door, green is really a change for her

Going to clean the oven tomorrow whilst I do other stuff and will do my best to keep it clean for the newbies.

Kids have changed their beds so that's good, do you remember the doggy quilt of the 80's? I was after one for ages, a friend of mine dug hers out and gave it to DD, DD is now mega happy as its on her bed and she loves it.

DH is rather grumpy today too, I think he's still in pain but won't say. Doesn't help he was up at 6.10 this morning.

    Onwards and forwards

    Sunday, new week tomorrow.
I think the house is screaming 'what the hell are you doing to me?' I can't believe how much stuff we've accumulated over the years, we've sorted and dumped so much that I think our local area is wondering what's happening??

Today we emptied the shed of doom, filled my car up and dumped it. Next week is DD's room.

Dinner tonight was HM marinated spicy pork, cheesy potatoes and peas, cheap dinner as I only bought the cream. We've gone through the inventory and have come up with some dinner ideas too.

    Kids are sorted for school.

Should hear from the EA tomorrow regarding moving dates.

Hope everyone had a great weekend? XX

It is unbelieveable how much stuff we tend to accumulate over the months and years. Every time we've moved, I've got rid of loads but it never seems to make a difference.

A friend of mine had a house fire a few years back and she lost everything but the clothes on her back. She is an older lady and had a lifetime of clutter surrounding her, she was the last of her family so felt a deep responsibility to keep things like her granny's tea service, her great-great-granny's wedding dress, christening gowns, etc.

She was insured and got a large cheque to cover her losses. After the initial shock and sadness, she said she'd never felt so free. She moved into a little modern flat and only bought the necessities, whenever I visit it's immaculate and she is so much happier. She said the only thing she misses are the old photos. I'm not saying anyone should burn down their house, but it does make you stop to think about what things are actually important in your life and what can you do without. With that in mind, where are the bin bags....?

We go to the charity shops with the car boot full of bin bags more than once a year. The stuff just seems to seep out of every pore of this house!

We've got a shed too ... it's like ker-plunk. If you want something, you have to pull at something else until it falls down.

Misty I always love the mantra ' the best things in life aren't things' from The Minimalists. Your story sums that up beautifully.

Keep going PM02 your new home will be so nice without all the carp.

The fire took away her choice in the matter. Instead of replacing most of the things that were destroyed, she only bought what she needs to be comfortable and has been spending the rest of the money travelling. She says her memories are more valuable than anything that was lost. I must admit I'm a little envious... the thought of starting again with a clean slate and a full bank balance is very appealing.

Thank you, you lot are lovely I think I'll refrain from burning the house down Misty I must admit I've been tempted though in the past

So lovely posters, lurkers and general hangers on that lurk upon my diary.....much help is needed we want to get the CM something special as a present to remember the kids by. She is a friend of ours and treats/loves our two as hers. DS suggested a photo of the two of them, which is lovely but I think there's something else we could get her. Any ideas???

Boring update on the house move....everyone in the chain is set for the 6th April, so that's the target...holidays have been rearranged to accommodate.

Nearly had to have stern words with the school about DD but all got sorted, still mad but some people should do better things than telling tales. On the upside DD is walking to school tomorrow & to/from school Thursday/Friday.

DD got mentioned in the school newsletter for becoming a Guide

Dinner tonight was Tapas, we had everything in so was a cheap dinner, it was nice for a change and used up bits out of the freezer. Plus, I have lunch tomorrow too.

I wrote a lovely long post last night and my ipad decided to stop the webpage working.

Everything with the house is progressing nicely, the buyers solicitors have come back with a few queries, but nothing major, it will however cost us an extra £290 on top to cover something but will come out of the funds at the end.

DH is worrying now that we can't afford it. We can, we both earn decent money and just need to get rid of the debt, which will also help. We can't stay where we are and the new house/area is good for us as a family.

Exchange of contracts is set for Friday, with moving due on the 6th April still

DS came home from Cadets last night, he passed his Parade test and earned his beret, hopefully he will get his uniform before we move and then he'll be a fully fledged Cadet.

Kids are going to see their new schools on Monday, DS has a couple of tests to take, so DD's new school is doing her visit whilst that goes on.

On a side note - Now things are progressing with the house and I can see light at the end of the tunnel, I am determined that we will get rid of the debt. DH should have some fairly sizeable chunks of commission coming in, which will help too.

Just need to sort out the budget properly once we are settled and BUDGET!!!!

    Afternoon

House stuff - After being told yesterday that we wouldn't be exchanging contracts until Monday due to the buyers dad interferring and delaying things.......The Solicitors are in the process of exchanging

DD and I are booked in for a haircut, I hate hairdressers and only go when I get fed up with my hair or DH whinges are me too much.

DS needs his new glasses adjusting tomorrow too.

Onwards with the decluttering of the house and many more dump/charity shop runs too this weekend.
