Must stop spending 5th Jul 16 at 11:59 AM
    Hello,

I have been reading these threads for a few years now and been in debt most of my adult life.
Until 2015 I was living way beyond my means and spending too much on credit cards so my debt was always increasing. In May 2015 I finally stopped and started to pay off my debt.
In May last year my debt was at it's highest of £11685. I got a new job which helped me to make a dent and today my debt stands at £7647. Over the year I was also saving for my wedding abroad which has been and gone but I now have two more holidays booked. I know it's not sensible to go on holiday when I have debt but I need something to look forward to! My holidays just gone was the first time I have actually saved and paid for a holiday without putting it on a credit card.
I currently pay around £300 each month dd to my 2 cards but am going to increase this to £550 a month to clear the debt sooner. I'm also putting £250-£300 a side for my two holidays. One is our honeymoon.
I guess I'm starting this diary to keep motivated. I have been at this stage before where I want to stop spending and pay big chunks off but a few weeks later I am back where I started.
Enough is enough now though and I want to get it cleared.
I'm 30 and we want to move from our flat to a house and start a family.
Really hoping that by doing this diary it will help me keep track of my spending and then I will see where those pennies disappear to each month...

    It's fridaaaay

Got our payslips today and I will be getting my £300 bonus in my pay on Monday
I know it's not loads but it's going straight on my cc! I can't wait to get my debt below £4K next month.
It's painful when I see my bonus should be over £500 but tax and my student loan eat it

Finally got the £80 credited to my mobile phone account for selling my phone back to them in November!! So my next two bills will be free and I can pay an extra £40 a month towards debt.

Still no further with our sale. Rubbish solicitors
Just need the flat gone now.

No plans this weekend apart from seeing family and packing up the flat so hopefully I'll make it to pay day with £70 left in my account and it can go towards debt.

    It's pay day

This weekend we paid off the balance for our Florida holiday in May and paid off everything I owe for it this morning

Apart from my monthly travel card for work at £330 I haven't spent any money this weekend. My hubby lent me the money to pay for it and I paid him back this morning.

I have just paid my £300 bonus plus the £40 I've saved on my phone bill to cc1. The total on cc1 is now £2140 and my total debt is £4340.
£400 will be going onto my two cards via dd after the 1st. Which means very soon my debt will be below £4K!

I got ill again this weekend. Another cold and sore throat. I think I'm run down from the stress of selling the flat. I really hope this is it for enquiries now and we can exchange soon. Wasting so much money on the flat at the moment. Once it's gone we can save.

I've got three family birthdays in March so I've got to be extra careful with my pennies.

We have finally exchanged!!! On the sale of our flat and our new house! Finally
We complete on the flat next week and then complete on the house in May/June.

Best part is that we get the money to pay off the balances on my Dad's cards which used to pay for extras on our house. Both balances have been incurring interest we really thought we would have sold the flat quicker than this.
It's been the slowest most painful process

Now we have to organise removals. For a period yesterday my husband thought it was a good idea to hire a van and do it ourselves but there is no way I can lift all that furniture down 4 flights of stairs. So today is going to be a mad rush to find a removal company who can do this Saturday. Who aren't going to cost us a fortune

    It's Friday!

Got a removal company sorted for tomorrow morning for £240. We asked my mother in law to lend us the money and she has insisted on paying for it. So nice of her
So tonight and tomorrow will be spent clearing the flat.
On Sunday if we have time we are popping over to our friends house that they have just moved into. On Sunday evening we are going out for dinner with my mother in law for my husbands birthday on Monday. We have the day off on Monday going for drinks and a meal and cinema during the day in London. Presents and cinema are paid for but I will be paying for the meal.
I've started telling our utility companies that we are moving out. I can't wait to stop paying bills and save money!
I'm hoping this weekend goes smoothly and isn't too stressful.

Selling our flat is the most stressful thing I have ever done. It's just horrible. Everything just keeps going wrong for us.

The removal company were awful and took twice as long and the invoice has come in with double the quote. They tried to charge us for extra materials we didn't use. Been arguing with them the last couple of days. My husband and I lifted more stuff than one of the removal men.

We are due to complete today but I'm already thinking the worst. Yesterday our solicitor emailed us a document that we both needed to sign and have witnessed and sent back to our solicitor prior to completion. Physically impossible! They said we can still complete but we won't receive the funds until they have our original signed document. We didn't get told until yesterday lunch. We both signed separate ones and posted them first class but I'm not holding my breath it will arrive today.
We need the money to pay off the extras we paid for on my Dad's credit card

In better news our utility companies have each told us that we are due money from them

We won't owe any more money after today so next pay day I'm making a massive debt payment!

Stick to your guns regarding the removal company they have to go with what they've quoted you.........it's not your fault they were so slow and the fact that you've done more than one removal guy is shocking xx

We sold our flat yesterday!! Eep. We are homeless!!
I'm now very rich. Ha! Unfortunately the money now sitting in my bank account is what we are using for our deposit for a new house. So now I have to be good. That money has to stay there untouched until June!

I got my husband to phone the removal company and they have agreed to remove the hours lunch break they expected us to pay. Still not happy but just want it paid and done!

I've paid my dad back all the money we owe him and I'm going to pay for our fitted wardrobes for our new home today.

My debt looks like nothing now but I can't think like that because I really need to get it cleared!

Hopefully now the stress of the flat has gone we can both relax a bit and start to enjoy our weekends again.

I've got £67 to last me until pay day on Monday. I have £150 on my spending card which I will clear on Monday and I'm getting my eyebrows done at the weekend.

Looking forward to my next pay and it not all going on my flat bills!

    It's PAYDAY!!

Just made a payment of £240 onto cc1 bringing that card down to £1600 and my total debt down to £3700 £400 direct debits will be going out in the next few days too.

It's out first month not paying for out flat so we have also paid off Ibiza in full! £508 each paid this morning.

I've transferred £42 to my holiday savings bringing the total up to £100 and I've paid off my spending credit card. I'm not going to use my spending card anymore. I'm good because I always pay it off every month but I'm fed up always playing catch up.

We also paid for our new wardrobes on Friday so we are up to date with everything!
Both holidays paid off before we have gone on them!

Had a really nice weekend. First one we have enjoyed for a while! Went to the gym and did a park run and spent time with family.
Can't believe it's Monday again already though

Thanks bma! I'm really trying to throw everything I have at my debt and still have a life at the same time.
It's really hard sometimes watching all my money disappear each month and I get so frustrated I let myself get into this mess.
My hubby only has £370 debt left. I'm so happy for him!!
Hopefully that will be me soon
