If you cancel the DD there is a chance that Iresa might still try to claim a monthly payment even though its not justified . This might give a negative credit score.

I had a similar problem with EoN a few years ago and they eventually agreed to ensure that my credit report status was put right and also they met the cost of an Experian report to confirm the same. To be fair to EoN, once they realised they were in error it only needed gentle encouragement on my part to get things sorted and resolved.

Iresa do not report to the CRAs whereas E.On do so a big difference in the possible outcomes.

Has anyone had their payments with Iresa reviewed or surplus balance refunded? I have been with them for almost a year now and built up a credit balance of over £125 as my bills seem to be about £5-10 or so less than the monthly payment each month. Not the end of the world as I am getting interest paid each month at a rate comparable with many savings accounts so thinking I could just leave it as it is. Just mainly curious to know if anyone has had Iresa review it or if you called them to do so?

Thanks Raxiel, isn't that mainly for gas though? I only have electric with Iresa and it doesn't really increase much over the winter.

If you read back thru' this and the other IRESA threads, you will see that recovering surpluses after changing suppliers ,has been a major issue for many ex IRESA customers.

Have you requested a refund yet ? If more than 8 weeks ago then start an ombudsman complaint.

    Switchers BEWARE
Have been with this company 3 months and have been paying them £65pm which is similar to my previous supplier. They now want to increase this to £99pm to which I object. I have posted a support ticket which hasn't been replied to after 2 weeks and when I try to phone them I am something like 38th in the queue. I think they must only have a part timer on the phones and support tickets. I have told them if they take the increase this month without my permission I will be switching to a new supplier.
Will let you know if they respond.

Mainly just curious if they have been known to reassess the direct debit amount as it was suggested on here that they would oppose a big credit balance being built up as they have to pay more interest on it. It's only 50p roughly a month but in a way a bit of a discount scheme.

I'll just keep a record of what my balance is just in case of the worst eventuality...

Are existing customers sticking with them then? We pay £88/month and have built up £350+ surpluses. Based on our consumption it looks like £73/month is what we should be paying which is the cheapest I've paid in years.

So, despite the difficulties others have faced I'm reluctant to leave.

Fortunately, we had not built up a huge credit balance (was within £10) at the end of the first year contract.

We have asked a couple of times over the last year for the DD to be slightly adjusted to match our usage and it has aways been done by the next payment.

They have recently made a mess of the latest transactions & Bills.

The latest Bill has not been corrected yet, but the transactions record is all correct now and we have screen dumps of what it shows. The transactions recorded match our own records.

To leave or not to leave? They are in a bit of chaos (have been for a while) but hopefully they've learnt from the bashing than OFGEM has given them (fines and order to go through all gas transactions). Customer Service is still almost non-existent. Twitter DMs and Facebook during the working day appear to be the only way to get any response.
Your money is protected BUT you have to keep constant check on meter reads and transactions; and they don't appear to have a process which allows customers to leave - certainly not one which enables a prompt pay back of any excess credit.

IRESA have "reissued" end of November bill (altho' no email received to say so!) Mine now includes all leccy charges thru to 30th November based on their estimated read -now being described on the bill as "routine read".
Agrees with the Account management page and, more importantly, my spreadsheet

Anyone else received no credit interest on balance for November? I have got October December & all other months.

I have raised a support ticket.

I had interest for November but it was a fair bit less than normal. I guess due to them taking my bill payment multiple times in error and taking the balance down about 90% but not worth complaining for the sake of 13p or something really as chances are it'll probably result in a massive mess with them trying to fix it.

EDIT -My Dec. figure is too much for the same reason.

I did a comparison a few weeks ago and their variable tariff wasn't much more than my current fix. Checked yesterday however and there is now a £200 difference.

Update: Looks like 4 was replaced with 5 on 01/11/17. I definitely did a comparison in the past month.

Don't know if anyone else is looking at their accounts - but mine has changed AGAIN!! They/he has estimated a reading for end of December and raised a charge for the days/units used plus somehow the interest figure for end of November has been increased. Haven't managed to tie it all up yet via my spreadsheets but all these on the fly alterations suggest that someone is treating their accounting system like a development project!!

Funnily enough my interest for November seems to have just disappeared! I was sure it was there on my last reply. I raised a support ticket anyway as it does look like everything keeps changing in there. October and November bills are lumped into one bill period (1st Oct to 30th Nov)
