Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13 13th Apr 16 at 12:29 PM
This is the new thread for those trying for a baby.
    The previous one is here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5143999

Please be aware that this is a thread for those trying to conceive. If you wish to announce a pregnancy (or are only a couple of days from testing) and you have never used this thread before, please either wait until CD1 or use the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread. Hormones can run high on here (nature of the thread!) so please be sensitive. Many thanks!

There is no such thing as a silly question, so please ask anything you are curious about. Many of us have 'been there done that' and many of our graduates still read this thread and are happy to offer advice when it is needed and relevant.

As with everything deemed medical, we cannot offer medical advice, so please visit or call your GP if you have any concerns or questions. Getting a preconception check up is recommended and allows your GP to know that you're trying for a baby as well as identifying and rectifying any issues or problems that may interfere with a pregnancy before you conceive.

    Congrats Chelle

Right, I'm on day one of proper AF, 3 days early. Grrrr! So, start of a new month for me. First job is to get through the next few days.

I'll put in another vote for the cheapy Amazon sticks! I got a fistful for £2 or something silly, and the results of them tied in with what the specialist has seen on colposcopy screenings (yep, I've actually seen myself ovulate on a monitor )

Thank you. I know what you mean, I don't think it's going to feel real for a while yet. Eek! Am just focusing on the next couple of weeks really to reach that 6 week mark when risk of MC drops to about 10%. Nice to know someone is at almost exactly the same point as me, hope you are feeling ok so far. I will be moving over to the less than 12 weeks thread, but not just yet x

I'll be moving over to that board too, just a bit nervous to at the moment - maybe sounds silly but feel like I'd be jinxing it? Want to wait until I'm feeling more confident and past a certain point

Feel generally okay so far but sore back and very tired. I'm almost like those cartoons having to use matchsticks under their eyes today! Hope you're doing alright.

    Congratulations Katey and Chelle!

Could I be tentatively marked as 1DPO please? I never got a positive OPK, but based on temps and physical symptoms I'm like 99% positive that I finally O'd on CD21. I've got my ne t scan on Wednesday, which will hopefully confirm it. I am worried about my temps being low though- they're much lower than earlier in the cycle, so I think FF will be hard pressed to give a coverline

Hugs and baby dust to all, I hope everyone is doing well!

I usually post when I'm at work and have just had two weeks annual leave, just arrived back today and there's been a flurry of goings on on here.

Can I be updated to CD15 waiting OV please.

I go on holiday and when I come back the BFP's are coming thick and fast. Congratulations Katey and Chelle. Lovely news. Here's to a healthy 9 months.

Hi all. I've updated the list - first tile doing it and tried to catch everyone's comments / requests. If there are any issues, please let me know and feel free to PM me too if needs be.

I am not holding out much hope this month. Getting a weird cramping really low down in my business. Had a rotten migraine yesterday too. Expecting AF to pay a visit sooner than later. 'Orrid witch.

That said...I've been meaning to ask what you prefer for pregnancy tests? Brand and type? I got a pack of three First Response today on offer for £10 at Boots as seemed a good price for three 'good brand' ones.

    Hope you're all well x

Sorry Kirtsypoos - I meant to ask you about black cohosh. How/what did it help and how did you take It? I ask because my mother used it for the menopause so I figure it must do something for our girl bits but I'm interested to find out what - I imagine I'll end up giving it a go

Hi emdoug same as you starting in January and so far no luck!

I'm finding it hard to talk to OH at the moment.. we talk about children, we decided I'd stop contraception but yet I find it really hard talking about TTC sometimes as I think he finds it a lot to take in (as do I but I think i cope with it better!) and I feel like If i talk about ovulating etc im putting him under pressure. I am terrible at talking about things on my mind.. Supose this is why I love this board as can say all the things I don't always say to him.
Whats worse is my OH is bloody lovely and I know he wont actually think any of this..
Swagbuckling since Aug 2016 - Earnings so far.. £55.

LavenderBee the way I understand it is it can help with egg maturity and quality. I've heard good things about people with endo and PCOS having success so thought I'd give it a shot. I took it CD1-12 - 120mg per day and then stopped. I ovulated a day or 2 earlier than normal which shocked me and lo and behold we got our BFP 12dpo so although I'd never say that is what made the difference for us, I firmly believe it had a huge effect

Zeni, I have to agree when it comes to the other half! I don't know about you but firstly, I was amazed at how much I didnt know about how my fertility is (supposed) to work; secondly, turns out hubby knew begger all! In his view we have sex without layers of contraception and I'm instantly pregnant. I've drip fed him information which I think is finally starting to sink in, after 11 months.

Perhaps it isn't that they don't want to know, more just that they don't realise how much there is that they don't know?

When I was at school sex education almost consisted of "if you're alone in a room with a member of the opposite sex one of you will be pregnant and it will ruin your life!". I guess the boys were told the same thing; and I understand why, teen pregnancies were a huge problem. Expect now DH and I are in our 30s and struggling...
