Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13 13th Apr 16 at 12:29 PM
This is the new thread for those trying for a baby.
    The previous one is here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5143999

Please be aware that this is a thread for those trying to conceive. If you wish to announce a pregnancy (or are only a couple of days from testing) and you have never used this thread before, please either wait until CD1 or use the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread. Hormones can run high on here (nature of the thread!) so please be sensitive. Many thanks!

There is no such thing as a silly question, so please ask anything you are curious about. Many of us have 'been there done that' and many of our graduates still read this thread and are happy to offer advice when it is needed and relevant.

As with everything deemed medical, we cannot offer medical advice, so please visit or call your GP if you have any concerns or questions. Getting a preconception check up is recommended and allows your GP to know that you're trying for a baby as well as identifying and rectifying any issues or problems that may interfere with a pregnancy before you conceive.

    Hey all,
I haven't been posting recently, I was feeling very sorry for myself earlier in the month-I would have been 6months at the end of April, one of my work colleagues is about 6-8 weeks behind what I would have been and has a big bump now, and another just announced a few weeks ago
I'm trying to be more positive, I've been temping this month and fertility friend tells me I'm currently 3dpo. I'm not sure how accurate my temps are though as everywhere says you need to do it after x hours undisturbed sleep, but I often sleep horrendously badly, so usually just do about 5/6 ish when I wake up. There seems to be a pattern, but I can't figure out how much difference the waking/moving makes to my temp-eg yesterday am was 36.50, but at 630 when I got home from work (and work physical job, and had walked home) temp was 36.67 or something like that!
3dpo fits with cm though, so will go with that. It was CD14, and I have a 25 day cycle usually, so my LP is not super short which I was starting to worry about.
Fingers crossed for this month everyone

Twig please could you move me to 2ww - 5dpo - I have over-ridden FF as there is a clear OV pattern to my temps but I think being ill pre-ov has affected the app - my pre-ov temps were much higher than usual.
Who knows what is going on, but based on cheapie OPKs, clear blue digital opk, CM and now 5 raised temps I'm happy to go with what my body is saying rather than an app

Sorry you've been feeling down hotcookie, glad you are feeling more positive now

I had my internal ultrasound on Saturday and she found no evidence of PCOS, although the lining of my womb was a little too thick. This may be because I haven't had a period in over 50 days, or possibly that I am very early stages of PG.

Or should I just be glad to be having a cycle because I have PCOS.

That's a really good point Athens. I've just done a quick bit of research and it looks like it's quite a delicate balance. One of the effects of the pill is to thin the lining to make it harder for an egg to implant, but if it's too thick this can also hinder implantation. According to the internet after AF it's normally 3mm, by OV it's between 6-13mm but over 15mm may hinder implantation.

I know this is all reading a bit in to it but could it all be part of a finely tuned mechanism? I definitely remember someone getting a BFP and they were on a really long cycle at least 100 days. Surely 100 days of no AF means the lining would have built up so much to be too thick or is that persons body increasing the womb lining at such a slow rate it took 100 days for OV to trigger.

Yes I do have too much time on my hands today.

Athens Obviously I don't know the answers, but all very good points. I don't know if the thickness is related to the release of hormones, so wouldn't thicken too much until your hormones start gearing up for OV, or if it's something else. The Dr didn't seem overly concerned about mine, so I presume it doesn't have too negative an affect if it is too thick.

Twig, yes, definitely good to have some more knowledge. Next step is back to GP to see what she recommends. We've only been trying since October so it may be a 'wait a few more months' situation, but I'll certainly keep you all posted.

I'm still holding out some hope for a BFP, nipple soreness and severe backache are still both coming and going. Trying to hold out on testing for as long as possible but may use FMU tomorrow

Haha, I used to be a POAS addict but now I just find it too upsetting. I actually put it off because I'm scared of the negative result. All the time I don't test I can convince myself it's going to be positive.

(Also DH got fed up of me spending a fortune on tests)

Oh no sorry to hear that MrsNubs.

Sorry AF got you too Zeni.

Twig can you update me in the list please. This horrible cycle has been weird and extra long and with me only going off CM and cervical position, I end up guessing some of the time but I now most definitely know I'm 1dpo and missed it.

I think I'm going to go back to the Vit B tablets, I like the shorter cycles (and therefore more chances) idea even though it sends me in to crazytown than longer cycles and the laid back approach.
