Ok, so here it is, my daily thread.

I have terminal cervical cancer which has left me very weak amongst other things, so I'm pretty much housebound and sofabound.

I only get to go out when my husband is home and as he works all week, and my sons are also at work and college, I'm on my own for a lot of the time.

Luckily, I don't mind my own company, I've always been a bit of an introvert, but I do like some social interaction, so I'm so glad the internet was invented!

I'm surrounded by cats though. We have 6, but they're not very good company, only Pixel talks to me. He also feels it necessary to accompany me every time I go to the loo, even if he's been in a different room, as soon as he hears me get up, there he is at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me!

Sometimes he's not quick enough and when I come out of the loo, he's sitting right by the door, bless him! Love him to bits!

Anyway, I'll try to post on here at least once a day.

    Hiya!

Talking of cherries........ I was in Sainsbobs the other day, and they had some cherries. So I had a look. They were from Chile.

    Humph. All those air miles.

As if that wasn't enough to put me off, they didn't look very nice anyway. The skins looked a wee bit shrivelled, as if they'd been out in the cold too long.

Didn't buy them. So many supermarket cherries, even when they're in season, don't taste of much these days, so I doubted that some frost-bitten ones all the way from Chile would have been up to much.

I need to make friends with someone who has a cherry tree.

Oh, and while we're at it, a plum tree, too. Haven't tasted a nice shop plum for years!

    Cherries from Chile?

Some of their wines are rather good but I didn't know they grew cherries commercially.
And if I'm going to be accused of causing emissions for air miles used in buying whatever, I would rather it be for wine than for fruit.

Which reminds me ................ I have a few bottles of nice bubbly left over from Chrimbo.
I may open a bottle later.
    Not much later, either.

    P.S.
Pyxis, a friend of mine has cherry trees.
Sadly the birds usually strip the trees of fruit before they're ripe enough to harvest.

    Hi Jools and everyone

How are you getting on Jools? You have been very quiet and have not been posting on your thread lately. I hope you are managing ok and I do hope you are not on antibiotics again as I know your infections make you feel real grotty. Always thinking of you like the others do on here. Big (((HUG))) for you from us all.

My hens and ducks will all be allowed to free-range again from 28th Feb unless the ban is extended again. Looks as though there are just some areas that will still be required to keep their poultry in. What's happening where you are Jools with your girls? Hope the ban is lifted in your area too!

Weather not too good here at the moment as we are getting quite a bit of rain but must not complain as it is filling up our rainwater harvesting tanks for our loo flushing.

    Hope all is good everyone.

Goodness, Edwink! What will your hens be like when you open the door?

I can see the headlines now:

    "EDWINK TRAMPLED BY STIR-CRAZY CHOOKS!

Edwink, of MSE fame, was crushed into the mud by the thundering feet of hens driven mad by weeks of being, literally, cooped up.

The cockerel, who led the charge, is up before the Beak on Monday."

    Good eefferninks everypeeps.

(Don't panic, it's the result of vino from day & meal out.)
I hope everyone is well including you, Gigervamp?
    I often think of you.

Oh yes Pyxis, I too can see a "Sun"-style headline now: "Kindly keeper trampled underfoot by fowl freedom bid!"

I reckon they'll still be quarantined here on the Lincs coast, in fact I think I saw that the *technical terminology warning* "bits" near the coast may have a long quarantine.
Though I might just be imagining that.
And that free range eggs here may soon be in short supply as a result.

Fortunately the weather has been great here (it's half term), well until this evening at least.
Because it is now quite persistent, the wet stuff.

    Best wishes to you all.

    Hello Jools and everyone

How is it all going?? Have not seen you on your thread for a while Jools are you ok? Maybe you are just resting and hopefully reading your thread and know that we all often think of you on here.

Hens were allowed back out the other day. YAY!!! Bet you were pleased about that too Jools. Mine hated being stuck in their coop and are now thankfully running around my garden causing mayhem. Bless them!!

Weather was really nice here this morning so I put some washing on and by the time the load had finished it completely clouded over. Ho hum I was hoping to hang it outside today. Have not got a tumble dryer but at least I can dry it in front of the stove hoorah!!

Daffodils and tulips are starting to open up here as are the crocuses so spring must be here soon. My favourite month as my garden wakes up and little shoots are appearing everywhere. I can't tolerate the heat so Spring is always best for me. I love it!! Take care all.

In a past life I/we had a citron-crested cockatoo with a similar disposition.
My ex wife had the bird.
    (I had the computer.)
Most of the time I am grateful.
