Milann's life keeps getting in the way....... 18th Jan 16 at 11:00 PM
Been on these forums for some time now...........good intentions of being debt free and at target weight keep coming .....and going......and life just keeps getting in the way!!!

So it's time for a new diary to help keep me on track and push the excuses behind me and JUST DO IT....

My debt is down to £2,500 and if I'd have shaped myself I could have had it cleared but I didn't so I need to do that pronto......
My car was written off in November so I need to do something about getting mobile again, I'm wary of getting a rust bucket as I've had money pits in the past but the cash the insurance company paid out will only get a heap again and I refuse to get finance till I've cleared off the 2 and a half grand.......

I've gone a bit (lot) mad and really splashed out on a weekend away for combined Christmas and birthday pressie for dh...... never paid so much to for a weekend away before but we're going to a concert. It's not until June so I have to save for that too.

    SO this week I will
    1. Do storecupboard challenge
    2. Keep spending diary
    3. Follow Slimming World plan to get back to target 6LB to go - then I don't need to pay

Wish me luck on this last leg..............

Electrician was pretty good- he has done work here before £40 which I could have done without paying but is no where near as bad as I expected. We now have light gain which is always a bonus - and nice new light shades. I went for a fairly big round industrial style shade but they were half the price of the ones i'd normally go for - I'm really pleased with them

A NSD today ad stayed on plan with the the food

Waiting for payday on 15th - all being well I can make a payment and I should be under £1500- even with my big spends on the house this summer. Just need to check wages as 1st month back in September they have been known to mess up !! Wish I'd not packed my 2nd job in a couple of years back as there was always chance to get a few more hours in the holidays but I don't think I'd have the energy to do it now. But the end is in sight

Just done some batch cooking of bolognais and chilli ready to freeze. Been super good food wise all week as out of my sw target range and I don't want to start paying again. Feeling positive and hoping for a loss this week.

Hmmmph - even though I'd been good foodwise I maintained at sw and had to pay - did NOT like that as not paid since last Christmas - so going for it this week.........whispers next bit very quietly - except I went in Sainsbobs and bought a reduced cream choux bun......... was very delicios though and I'm still within points - just.

Took great delight in cancelling the cc I paid off last month - I'd overpaid too by £16.50 by the time they'd calculated interest - so that'll be heading back to my bank. Still not paid Mr T cc as not has chance to sit and do finances but it's not due until 26th so still got best part of a week to do it.

Had a productive weekend - tidied everywhere inside yesterday as much as I could - still waiting for man to put flooring down in the hall - he didn't show on Friday when he said and we can't get hold of him - I'm livid!!!! We've got to the stage where the floorboards have grown on us and I'm seriously considering taking the laminate back and sanding and painting/varnishing them... then today we have been doing some serious pruning outside - garden looks lots better if a tad bare. There's the elephant in the room though - or should I say garden - a bloomin big shed that needs emptying (again) and pulling down - can't face it so we keep putting it off LOL LOL LOL

Planning a swim tomorrow - not very MSE I paid for membership to local gym/pool and I haven't used it for ages - SO I've packed my stuff and planning to go straight from work tomorrow...

We have floor boards and an old house. Laminate would keep the heat in and stop gales from blowing upwards!

well..........not sure where to begin. I've not even looked at my finances for a couple of weeks. My minimum payment has gone out but it's been the last thing on my mind.
Just over 2 weeks ago I got a terrific pain in my back - to cut a long story short was admitted to local hospital who half scared me to death. They didn't know what it was other than some sort of a mass on my spine.........asked me lots of questions over several days about why I'd had surgery on my bowel many years ago and if I'd ever had skin cancer. I was flat on my back for best part of a week whilst they did scans, x-rays, blood scans and more scans. Including a couple of full body scans looking to see if there was a mass anywhere else in my body. They transferred me to another hospital that specialises in spinal and injuries and told me the local cancer hospital would probably have to be involved. Not a time i ever want to repeat.

Anyway at the 2nd hospital, they re-did the scans and luckily the mass had shrunk over the week - they decided its 'just' a bleed into my spine. I've lost some feeling in my leg and it's pretty weak and gives under me. I'm on crutches and its a game of wait and see if it regains all its use. But all things considered its a darn site better than we thought a week ago.
I came home Saturday night and have slept for England since. I'm waiting for an appointment from neuro physio department and got a sick note for 6 weeks.
Not what I'd planned at all. On the plus side I've not been anywhere to spend any money and need to go on line to sort things out but my get up and go has gone.................

Well today I went on line and sorted my finances.

The couple of weeks before I went into hospital were a bit out of control financially and I went a tad mad going out celebrating my birthday and I bought a very expensive new coat - it's just an ordinary looking coat but has goose feathers in.....I bought it totally on a whim as the sleeves fit....I have terrible trouble with sleeves burying me and annoying me. I last bought a decent coat for cold, wet weather 7 years ago and it is getting a tad thread-bear...........I'm justifying my purchase as it was very indulgent.........but it's done now and it's not going back - I intend to enjoy it and if it lasts as long as my last one it'll be ok...

So after the payment I made today I owe a total of £1,150 - I was tempted to pay more and bring it under £1000 but that would have taken me into my overdraft - something I said I wouldn't do.

So realistically I can have it paid by the end of the year - birthday season in my family is upon me until January and Christmas is looming so it's no good kidding myself saying it'll be next month - I want to be debt free - able to pay my Mr T cc off in full every month by the end of the year.

I have no idea how long I will have to be off work - I get paid for a few months - I think its 6 but need to pull my contract out to check its not just 3. I'm hoping my leg will regain some power and I'll be off the crutches fairly quickly but it's wait and see. I am in a much better position than I was 11 years ago when I ended up being off a year. I can do this - even if the worse comes to the worse and I can't work.
    Feeling positive.

    ohhhhh myyyy goodness............
I've just read over this last diary. Talk about catalogue of disasters.......... enough is enough - me and my family are making a pledge not to use the NHS anymore, keep well and let someone else have a turn - I know I like to get my monies worth - but honestly - where would we have been without the NHS faults and all.

On a plus I have some Simply Health money coming my way for the 13 nights I spent in hospital, this is something that has paid for itself too.
