Official MSE Insert 9 March 2016

Hi to everyone in the Wombling 2016 group. You're mentioned in our news story:

'Wombles' average £250/mth from hobby retrieving others' discarded receipts

    Back to Bobarella's original post...

    -----

    Hi All

Following on from the 2015 thread of the same name this thread renews the challenge for 2016. To read what we got up to this year go here

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5141110

I'm guessing most people know that wombling refers to making use of things you find for financial gain. Examples could be receipts that you have added onto your loyalty cards for your own gain. Some I find are: unclaimed Nectar points, Tesco club cards points, Toys R Us gold card points, Costa card points, mcdonalds cups with the bean sticker still on (collect 6 for a free coffee) also price promise reciepts for tesco & brand match coupons for sainsburys which are better than roadkill as many are over a £1.

My total for 2015 was £1027.20 Not a bad number but I'd like to do even better this year.

I am going to keep track from Jan 1st on the value I find in the main categories & may zero sum them from the relevant budgets.

My aim for 2016 is every time I leave my house to try & find one item that makes my life cheaper!!

If you'd like to join in this challenge sign up below

    Happy eBay Shopping
Had to do some shopping on eBay for my 16 year old son, as it turned out he has to be dressed like a business man every day in his Sixth Form! I had to find new suits, formal trousers and Blazer type jackets and suit jackets and lots of long sleeved shirts for him. eBay has been my goldmine once again, I found these items on the Littlewoods Clearance shop on eBay

Taylor and Reece blue striped shirt £2.99 saving me £20.01

Taylor and Reece blue and white check shirt with red tie £3.99 saving me £39.01

Taylor and Reece Grey Suit Jacket £4.99 saving me £39.01

Only & Sons Talbot Navy Cotton Formal Trousers £9.99 saving me £45.01

I also got a £5 discount because I had spent over £20 (current promotion)

I also saved £11.85 on postage as 3 of the items became free postage when I went tot pay for the 4 items together

Next black/white check shirt on eBay £6.99 saving me £13.01

I also found these other items:

Next Grey shirt £4.50 saving me £15.50

    M & S Blue Harbour Jumper £4.20 saving me £15.79

Next blue shirt £5 saving me £15

Next Indigo blue shirt £3.89 saving me £16.11

    M & S black suit trousers £11 saving me £13.99

    M & S black pin striped trousers £12.50 saving me £12.49

2 X Big Macs and 2 X Medium fries for £3.98 with the bus ticket offer saving me £3.98

3 X Ty Pluffies 10 inch soft toys from eBay on 3 for 2 promotion for £9.98 saving me £19.96 on the usual non discount, non promotion price

    #33 current total = £4777.52

DOH has been in work today which is not the norm. As a thank you for those people spending their sunday in work management brought in lots of chocolate muffins. DOH came home with a handful - 10 to be exact (he has big hands lol). I'm thinking they'd go for about 40p each so adding £4 to the total. xxx

Wow Sugarbaby those are some amazing savings.

As for me, someone left me a banana on my desk this morning - thank you very much and DOH surprised me with a pot of my favourite BBrown face cream which retails at £40 a tub. It's so lush and it is my one luxury item but as I was trying to be fruggle he bought me it as a lovely surprise. Very happy young lady (well young at heart anyway lol).

    Morning fellow wombles

7p in roadkill and a penny from the washing machine to report from this last week and another 15 kilos of damsons (random £5 claimed for these). I forgot to record the number of eggies from the girls, annoyingly.

My mum returned some of the damsons I gave her as jam....6 jars of it so I'll add £3 to my total for that.

Rather jealous of the wombled muffins and face cream Miss Piggy. Your DOH sounds wonderful
