    I like coffee ice cream.

Tell you what I really like, and that's gelato affogato, but only if it's made with a good vanilla ice cream and a stonkingly good espresso.

Funnily enough, I don't drink a lot of coffee, but when I do it has to be very good coffee or I won't drink it. I just don't like it if it isn't the proper stuff..
I pretty much mainly drink tea at home.

But in Italy, it's lovely asking for an Americano and not being asked if you want milk with it!
It's also nice asking for an Americano and not being given a large cup of weak black coffee.

It's also nice having an espresso that's the right strength and you just down it in one, rather than just a small cup of something burnt and then diluted too much.

However, a really good coffee-flavoured ice cream is lovely!

    Hooray For Salami Day!

Hope you've got big plans for a evening out on the town, eating
some delicious salami. If you prefer a relaxing meal at home, your
local grocer should have a variety of delightful salamis to choose
from. Or, if you're super lazy, order that pizza with pepperoni, one
of the more popular types of salami.

No matter what, have a great Salami Day, and wish all your friends
a Happy Salami Day as well, as one good sausage party deserves another.

The RNLI Grace Darling Museum commemorates the life of
Victorian Britain’s greatest heroine, who risked her life to rescue
nine survivors from the wrecked SS Forfarshire on 7 September
    1838.

    About Grace Darling

Grace Darling was one of the Victorian era’s most celebrated
heroines. On 7 September 1838, at the age of 22, she risked her
life to rescue the stranded survivors of the wrecked steamship
Forfarshire, a feat of bravery which changed her life dramatically.

Her extraordinary act of bravery became internationally known,
making front page news and even reaching Queen Victoria. She
became the media celebrity of her day and was showered with
honours, including the RNLI's Silver Medal for Gallantry.

Tragically, Grace died 4 years later, aged just 26. She is still
remembered for her courageous actions, and the bravery she
demonstrated that night continues to inspire the values we hold
today. The museum was established in 1938 to commemorate her
    life.

    Good morning lovely Alphabettys

I hope you're all well and raring to go on this
    fantabulous Friday!

    Literacy in a digital world

This year, International Literacy Day (8 September) will be
celebrated across the world under the theme of ‘Literacy in a
digital world’. On 8 September, 2017 a global event will be
organized at UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris, with the overall aim
to look at what kind of literacy skills people need to navigate
increasingly digitally-mediated societies, and to explore effective
literacy policies and programmes that can leverage the
opportunities that the digital world provides.

At record speed, digital technologies are fundamentally changing
the way people live, work, learn and socialise everywhere. They
are giving new possibilities to people to improve all areas of their
    lives including access to information; knowledge management;
networking; social services; industrial production, and mode of
work. However, those who lack access to digital technologies and
the knowledge, skills and competencies required to navigate them,
can end up marginalised in increasingly digitally driven societies.
Literacy is one such essential skill.

Just as knowledge, skills and competencies evolve in the digital
world, so does what it means to be literate. In order to close the
literacy skills gap and reduce inequalities, this year’s International
Literacy Day will highlight the challenges and opportunities in
promoting literacy in the digital world, a world where, despite
progress, at least 750 million adults and 264 million out-of-school
children still lack basic literacy skills.

World Physical Therapy Day is on 8th September. The day is an
opportunity for physical therapists from all over the world to raise
awareness about the crucial contribution the profession makes to
keeping people well, mobile and independent.

    Theme and message

The overarching theme for World Physical Therapy Day each year
is Movement for Health. This year, the suggested message is
“Physical activity for life”, highlighting the important role that
physical therapists play in healthy ageing.
