    Good evening

I'm loving all your posts - absolutely brilliant!

I had to retreat indoors late afternoon cos the sun was just
too hot for man, beast and me!

On the plus side I actually managed to catch up with all the
comps I 'try' to enter on a regular basis.

Tomorrow is going to be another scorcher and even warmer -
'apparently' to be followed by an almighty storm.

I'll believe it when I see it!

    Hahaha .... just seen this:

Bear turns heads by riding in motorcycle sidecar, waving to
    onlookers

    Good morning lovely Alphabettys

Bees’ Needs Week - 17-23 July

Bees Needs Week is an annual event coordinated by Defra and
involving a number of charities, businesses, conservation groups to
help raise awareness of bees and other pollinators. This is part of
the National Pollinator Strategy and the week happens every July.
You can get involved by sharing information on social media using
    #BeesNeeds.

Bees and other pollinators are vital to growing lots of our favourite
foods and for plants to flourish in our fields and gardens. Bees’
Needs Week is a great opportunity for you to find out more about
how important pollinators are and how you can support them.

Whether you are a farmer, a gardener, or a manager of urban or
amenity spaces, there is something you can do to help support our
valuable insect pollinators. There are five simple actions you can
take to help pollinators and make sure their populations are
    sustained:

Grow more flowers, shrubs and trees

    Let your garden grow wild

    Cut your grass left often

Don’t disturb insect nest and hibernation spots

Think carefully about whether to use pesticides

Take a look at these Case Studies which are fantastic examples of
the 5 simple actions being put into action or read our Information
Sheets to learn more about what you can do >>>

Dragonfly Week in South West London

    15-23 July 2017

The BDS will be in residence at the WWT London Wetland Centre
throughout Dragonfly Week 2017. Why not come along and say
    hello?

The carefully maintained ponds of this former reservoir in Barnes
are an ideal home for both dragonflies and damselflies. With
sunshine and patience visitors may see some of the centre's 22
species hunting and patrolling, mating and laying eggs. Members
will be on hand to share sightings and ID tips. They will also be
    introducing the society's brand-new Dragonfly Challenge - a
    spotting activity for all!

There will four BDS guided walks:

    - Wednesday 19th July at 11:00am and 2:00pm

    - Saturday 22nd July at 11:00am and 2:00pm

These short, 30-minute informal walks are for everyone. They
start in the entrance Courtyard and follow a level route. They offer
safe waterside viewing of the resident Dragonflies at several pools.

*** Booking in advance is advised as the number of places on
    each walk is limited ***

Dragonflies prefer flying on sunny, still days. In the event of a very
wet or windy day there will be a half-hour illustrated Dragonfly talk
    indoors instead.

    Sat 22 July - Sun 3 September

This summer bring your kids to WWT London Wetland Centre so
they can enjoy the excitement of becoming a Wildlife Ranger!

    Grab a net and try pond dipping;

join our warden to discover more about our wildlife; or learn how
    to use binoculars!

When you arrive at our centre you’ll receive your FREE Wildlife
Ranger log book packed with everything you need for a day of
    exciting discoveries.

Dusty Duck’s rather handsome ‘look’ was created by Aardman
Animations (makers of the fab Wallace and Gromit).

He’s called Dusty because when he was a little duckling his own
watery home was drained and became a ‘dust bowl’ so he made
his new home here. He wants all his water-loving animal pals to
be able to live happily in fantastic wetlands and thinks children are
the best people to help make this happen.

    Daily, 10am - 4pm

    Good morning lovely Alphabettys

I hope you're all well and raring to go on this thoughtful,
    fun-filled and scrumdiddlyumptious Wednesday!

Oops .... only just found this

This year's Love Parks Week - July 14-23 – is an opportunity to
demonstrate just how much our country loves parks.

So let’s get the whole community telling us why, to help us protect
them for future generations. Get onto social media and share your
photos or videos - tell the world why to #Loveparks.

To encourage everyone to get involved, parks, councils, community
groups, schools, clubs or individuals can purchase heart-shaped,
dry-wipe boards. Then all you need to do is write your reason for
loving your park on the boards, share photos or videos via Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram or YouTube during the campaign week and
encourage others to get involved too.

£5 from each heart purchased will be donated to the National
Federation of Parks and Greenspaces to help them support friends'
    groups across the country.

Let’s get ready to ramble for Rainbows!

We’re delighted that you’ve chosen to get involved.

We launched Ramble for Rainbows on the back of our
tremendously successful Walk of Life event. The idea is simple:
plan your route, get your friends, family or colleagues together,
find some sponsors and get walking!

You can do your sponsored walk in your own time, on a date to
suit you. You can walk to challenge yourself, to commemorate a
special occasion, in memory of a loved one or even just for the joy
of seeing some beautiful countryside and getting out in the fresh
    air.

Whether you’re a serious stroller or an amateur ambler, everyone
of all ages and abilities can take part. You can even take the dog!
It doesn’t matter if you are walking one mile or 20 – if we all get
out there, ramble and raise some money, together we can have a
truly massive and lasting impact on the lives of children and young
    people in the East Midlands.

We’re hoping that as many participants as possible will join us at
our annual Open Day on Saturday 16 September 2017, where
there will be an opportunity to hand over your sponsorship money
in person and – most importantly – see the amazing place that you
    are supporting.

Well .... it's a beautiful start to the day here after the mega
storm hit us in the early hours of the morning.

I was woken at about 2.00am by overhead thunder/
    lightning and torrential rain.

Sadly - many Southern regions suffered damage/disruption
and I've just seen the news re Coverack (Cornwall) and
the resulting damage to the village due to the storm.

Thankfully no casualties have been reported but
    nevertheless .....

I do hope all is ok with everyone (throughout the country)
who may have been affected by this storm.
