    Still no rain.

I have now received three emails from the Met Office, giving yellow warnings of rain for yesterday, but not a drop in sight! The last email was yesterday! Spectacular fail!

We need you to Meditate for Tibet to help more Tibetans this year!

This year’s meditation is at 3pm on Saturday 8th July 2017. Join
    us to help Tibetans…

Whether you are seasoned in practising meditation or have never
meditated before, join us to Meditate for Tibet!

Meditation has proven health benefits and can make you feel
calmer, healthier and happier. Our free guided Body & Breath
meditation by Jill Cox, a mindfulness teacher, means it couldn’t be
simpler to take part – either on your own or as a group. This year’s
meditation is brand new, and kindly provided by Living Mindfully.
(If you enjoy the meditation, why not download their app?)

Meditate for Tibet raises vital funds for our work with Tibetans in
India, Nepal and Tibet – providing essential healthcare and
education and helping Tibetans to build a brighter future.

Unlike many fundraising challenges, you don’t need to have a
super-fit body or travel far from home – this can be done in the
comfort of your living room. Last year’s event raised nearly £3,000
    – please help us to smash that total this year!

    How do I take part?

Simply fill in this form to request your FREE fundraising pack and
CD. You can either take part on your own or get a group together.

We hold an annual event where lots of groups and individuals
meditate at the same time, but you can also take part at any time
throughout the year. This year’s event will be at 3pm on Saturday
8th July 2017. By meditating at this time you’ll be connecting with
    hundreds of other people!

How can I raise money for Tibetans in need by meditating?

You can organise a group event and charge people to take part, or
take part on your own and ask friends and family to sponsor you –
or simply give us a donation in return for the pack.

Claire Murphy raised over £800 last year by holding a fantastic
event with 108 minutes of meditation and a refreshment stall.
Many others meditated on their own or with one other person and
asked family and friends to sponsor them. You can go as big or
    small as you want.

How will I make a difference?

Currently around 130,000 Tibetans live in exile from Tibet, mainly
    in India and Nepal.

Many of these Tibetans – as well as those inside Tibet – are in
desperate need of education, healthcare and a sustainable future.
You can help make this happen.

    Ham Court

It is unusual to find a stone farmhouse in Oxfordshire with no
garden at all. More unusually Ham Court was once the gate house
    of a major C14 castle.

Emma Bridgewater and Matthew Rice have been making painfully
slow progress in the project of putting this to rights. Beginning to
dig a moat, planting thousands of trees, hiding thousands of
tonnes of rubble and laying down the plans for their future garden.

This is an opportunity to come and see work in progress, but at
the very least give you a warm feeling that they, not you, have
taken on such a ridiculous project.

Emma and Matthew open their Oxfordshire home garden this
Sunday 9th July, as part of the National Garden Scheme.

    (10am - 4pm).
    Admission £5.00, children free.
    Tea.

For details on how to visit, see here:

    https://www.ngs.org.uk/find-a-garden/garden/33900/

    Who we are

Since 1927 we’ve been inviting garden owners to open their
exceptional gardens to the public for good causes, giving people
unique access to some of Britain’s most beautiful, memorable
gardens for around the same cost of a cup of tea and a slice of
cake. Over the last 90 years, we’ve donated £50 million to
charities across the UK, thanks to the warm generosity of our
garden owners, volunteers and visitors – a rich blend of generosity
that lies at the heart of the National Garden Scheme.

Our beneficiary charities are: The Queen’s Nursing Institute,
Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Carers Trust, Hospice UK,
Perennial, Parkinson’s UK and other guest charities.

Ooooh! Thank you Alfie, for my special lemon day!

    One of those health tips:-

"Long distance walkers, world travelers, and explorers look upon the lemon as a Godsend. When fatigue sets in, they might suck lemon juice by piercing the top of the fruit with a straw, giving themselves a quick-acting medicine and a lovely refreshment.

Explorers also use lemon for protection against many infections of the tropics. A small amount of lemon juice will quench thirst more effectively than many times the amount of water. Experienced travelers declare that when they add lemon juice to ordinary drinking water, in various localities, it acts as an antiseptic and prevents illness due to allergy to different water supplies.

Lemon oil also seems to be able to stimulate brain activity so whenever you feel tired for no reason or are finding it hard to focus or concentrate, add 4 drops of lemon oil to a water-filled aromatherapy lamp. Alternatively, drink a glass of lemon water every few hours."

    And another one:-

    "Smite a Bug Bite

If the stinger is still in the skin, take it out with a pair of tweezers. Massage 1 to 2 drops of lemon oil, mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey, into the skin around the bite.

To repel insects, add 20 drops of lemon oil to 1 cup (250ml) of water and spray into the air. It smells great and repels insects at the same time. Another home remedy is to place a cotton ball soaked in lemon oil in your bedroom. If you are sitting outside in the evening, apply lemon scent to skin areas not covered in clothing. Or, add 10 drops of lemon oil to 1 ½ oz of sunflower oil and rub into the skin."

    And a third one:-

    "Pulverize Pain

Even though it tastes bitter, lemon juice has a powerful alkaline effect in the body and is therefore a natural agent against excess acid, which is in part responsible for rheumatism. Drink the freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon in a glass of lukewarm water 3 times a day and if you experience severe pain add the juice of 2 lemons 3 times a day.

Lemon oil has pain-relieving qualities, so to inhibit inflammation and ease pain, massage the affected area daily with several drops of lemon oil mixed with 1 tablespoon (15ml) jojoba oil."
