Reclaiming money back from various payday loan companies 17th Jul 15 at 9:32 PM
Hi all just wanted to share some good news regarding payday loan companies.....
From early 2011 until mid 2014 I too was caught in the payday loan trap, all my own fault may I add, I borrow the money and in the end paid every penny back, would estimate 15000 over the years maybe 20.
Early this year I saw all the news regarding payday loan companies and irresponsible lending, unfair interest etc etc etc, so I decided to have ago and try and get a few quid back myself.
So far I have been in contact with 5 of the companies I was lending multiple loans from at the same time with many roll overs too, I have received 4 apologies and offers totalling over 5000 and the other complaint is now with the ombudsman.
I never expected these amounts back but if you too were in the same situation, get all your facts in order and get complaining, from the initial email sent I had the money back within 8 weeks.

I have sent complaints to QQ and Wonga around 2-3 weeks ago. I can see its quite a lengthy process, but I'm willing to wait.

I have read in here that sometimes they ask for statements, payslips etc. and that we shouldn't provide them. If they do request this, what's the next thing I should do?

Can someone tell me if they had any luck with PDUK and paydayexpress? They seem right scheming !!!!!!!s. Asked for statement of account, they refused, wrote formal complaint based on evidence I had, they replied they'd investigate. 8 weeks have passed and they emailed saying they haven't finished their investigation. Replied asking for statement of account so I can make formal FOS complaint, again they refused. Will the FOS still investigate on what evidence I have? Basically some emails stating loan amounts and that I am requesting to extend them etc, as well as credit report. However I know it's not the full details of all loans. Thanks

FOS found in my favour about 3 weeks ago, still no refund, these 2 companies are just trying to be awkward imo

    What an Idiot
    Hey folks
I am just looking a bit of advice regarding PDL (sunny) I took out my first loan in July 2015 for £150 between then and now with my balance being £986 I have taken out 36 loans for a total of £8850 ()this all started after my GP diagnosed PTSD me being a cave man I decided to self treat which turned into a gambling habit I was borrowing various sums then I started to panic went and borrowed more to settle previous ECT you get the drift between sunny and quickquid mostly.
During this time I also took out unsecured loans to "fund these bloody things" then after these dried up I have taken various guarantor loans also playing all against each other anyways this week I decided enough was enough as I now owe £4k to various companies I have stopped all direct debits and CPAs as I believe the only way out is to trash my credit report let them all report to CRAs then once its trashed I will pay them all back.
That was until I seen this thread could anybody let me know if I would have a chance of getting anything back from Sunny to start with if this work I would then go for quick quid as for the other loans with Mr lender and Satsuma I will pay as these are first loans but only after the screw my credit report first.
this is not a case of not wanting to pay but looking over my bank statements and seeing the figures for somebody who only ears £22k pa is crazy...............

At least with some other companies, I've had the refund the same day as accepting offer.

I paid over £3500 in interest to wonga and their offer was £1200 so roughly a third...I don't want to lose the offer but do believe I should get more back through FOS, does anyone have experience on how long this takes?
At least wonga came back with an offer within the 8 weeks, I am yet to hear from PDUK.

Depends how urgent you need the refund. Fortunately wonga made a decent offer for me so I don't need to go through the FOS. Just have the hassle now of wonga actually paying me!

Been following the thread and good luck everyone in their journey. I've had one pay day loan (recently) and either there was a glitch on their site or they still don't do affordability checks properly!! I put my address in (lived here a month, no previous asked) and entering income I put £600 wage and my outgoings were more because the Incomings they asked for wage only. It kept taking me back to that page lol so I eventually entered my WTC tax credits in the salary box (total £900 incl wage) and it was accepted!! anyway it's all paid I knew the charges etc just thought id mention it only borrowed to cover some D/D I didn't have the money for paid it just over a week later knowing I'd have the funds to pay, I feel for anyone caught in the payday loan trap

Its frustrating that major payouts are tantalizingly close for me, but Wonga and QuickQuid add on so many extra days for processing the payment! Very frustrating! Have to give them up to 4 working weeks for it. Annoying that other companies such as MyJar and Piggybank, paid out the same day as accepting the offers!

@regret70 That's good news, took less than the 14 days then? I received my email confirmation this morning that they hope to complete within 14 days.

I have to say I looked into this a few weeks ago but thought nothing of it. Today I went back through all my old bank statements and worked out I paid over £5000 interest to QQ & W0nga alone!! (There are 4 other companies I need to look into, I was in a real mess 3/4 years ago!) I'm adamant I'm going to claim now, I feel they took a real advantage of me considering most loans were taken out within a week of settling the last!!

hi there, I'm new here and I've also being struggling with payday loans, and would like to know if this is something you have to do yourself or if you can get an outside company do the leg work for you?

I'm doing it myself, there are companies that will do it for you but they'll take a huge chunk of any compensation you may be due as fees.

It's been really simple so far, just a couple of emails to each company concerned.

Follow the guidance and templates on the debt camel website

    Good luck
