    Mortgage free by 2023 (!) 9th Jan 15 at 1:22 PM
    Hello,

I'm usually found hanging out on the DFW diaries thread as you'll see from my signature we are still tackling debt..

However, my plan was always to start attacking the mortgage after that, but having just sat down and worked out how much we need to overpay to clear it in time for DH to retire at 65 latest, I think we need to start now!

I still have to focus on clearing the debt as it's on a slightly higher interest rate, but I don't see any harm in starting to overpay the mortgage a little bit here and there as well. I've found a debt free wannabe diary massively helpful in helping me to focus and curb any unnecessary spending, so here I am!

I don't expect masses of activity, but every little bit will help!

We have 14 years left on our mortgage with £118,031.21 left to pay wef today (I just realised I could access this online - will regularly stalk this from now on!) We want it gone by December 2023. We pay £921.60 a month which is effectively my wages - it feels a huge amount as it is, but I know we have to do more.

Would love some company for the next 9 years!!!

8 items sold on fleabay and £40 made! Will put £15 aside for fees that are due, pay £10 OP to the mortgage and then split the remaining £15 between the CC pots and put a few pound toward the littlies account!

£3 in from Pcone and sent to the mortgage OP. Loads of surveys got approved at pr0filic so I had £21.94 cleared and payment requested.

Not very MSE, but just booked a hol to Centreparcs for March. We obviously can get these way cheaper going in term time, so just under £400 for the week. Have been promising littlies we will go.

Got the stuff from M&S bank, but no details on how to switch, so need to check that today.

Have started going through my wardrobe - I have loads and loads of clothes in smaller sizes that although I intend to fit into one day (if that ever comes) but I have to question if I need them now given that I don't work. Washing machine has a load in anyway and I'm going to start sorting through and decide keep, sell or charity shop. I also want a load gone over the next few months as I'm finally in the weight loss zone and on the way to my first stone lost.

Quiet day today, we were travelling a lot yesterday, sunday roast, housework and general chill time!

    Have a good sunday all!

Congrats on nearly losing 1 stone!!! That's amazing, I have the problem of hoarding all my clothes all sizes and now I have too much stuff in my wardrobe that I need to declutter but I keep thinking "what if I need it?"

Enjoy your Sunday roast... totally jealous!!! X

Productive day attacking the wardrobe and 11 items listed. One more to go, but need to do that on DHs account as I have a family stalker on my account and they bought me the item!

£3 in from a pcone survey - waiting for that to hit the bank and then will OP, done another Pcone survey this morning, 50p on Yougov.

Weather miserable today, spent a wet few hours in the woods yesterday at Forest School with littlies. Quieter day at home today and Beavers tonight, DD wants to move to Beavers, but think they are full so will find out tonight. Be a lot easier logistically if she was able to move.

Good offer on moving bank with H$BC at the mo, so going to look at that today

£4.80 payable on TCB so an am@zon voucher requested. £16.42 OP sent today as a result of fleabay sales!

Well done on listing the clothes you don't wear. It's a faff but will hopefully make you money and make space.

Just wanted to mention that I have recently joined DD up to a maths app called Doodle Maths. She HATES maths, but will sit for 10-30 minutes a day on this earning stars and it seems really good. I paid £3.99 for the first month and we got stickers and stuff through the post. Just in case your littlies are maths averse (and it gives you a little break!)

Life has been too busy again, mortgage paid and balance now at £95. Managed to OP nearly £100 during the last month so pleased with that.

Still spendy with wedding stuff, all be over soon!

Good news, I think in that we had a letter from old bank saying that because they didn't tell us something about an old loan, they are refunding us £600. Hoping that will hit the account this week, but honestly, some of that will get swallowed up with stuff whilst we are away at the wedding. Nice little unexpected bonus though.

Neighbour told me I'd lost weight last night which was nice! Still around the stone loss mark. Have ordered fancy new suck it in and make it disappear pants for the wedding - they perform miracles right??

Divvied up pennies this morning and paid £64 off CC3 to get that into the next hundred bracket and £50 off CC4, though wish I'd made that £51 to get under £1k = hmmm - off to pay £1 now as that will make me feel better!

What a bonus getting that money back from the bank. We love CP too and both times have been Nov/Dec so I would love to be there in the Spring or Summer. Your children will love it am sure, my two are desperate to go back despite going abroad twice this year!

Well done on weight loss too, it's not easy finding motivation this time of year.

Still waiting for the money from the bank for the loan. Electricity provider transferred this week and we were £116 in credit so waiting for that to credit as well. New provider has quoted £48 a month which is crazy so i'm still putting the same amount away each money as that will catch up with us big time soon.

Just got a £10 voucher for am@zon today - determined next year to leave all these points alone and use them for birthdays and Christmas.

Managed to get DS's pressie from the man in red from Mr T this week using my vouchers, so cost us £1. DD is a total nightmare this year, struggling to think of much to get her at all!
