I soooo need this! Maybe this year I'll be organised.
  • I am usually so much more organised than this but this year I have finished my degree, been working full time and am now 14 week pregnant! So it's been a little hectic! I am coming out the end of the horrible morning sickness bit, my working hours are reducing as of mid September and degree is done and dusted so in a few weeks I will finally be able to focus on enjoying winter and Christmas! It's DD's birthday in October too but as she will be 2 years old I am hoping to keep it simple.

I love making jams/chutneys for gifts and this year am going to make DD some felt food for her tea set. Trying to think of something homemade for DS but as he is 8 he mostly wants Cool Things, not things made by mum.

We are totally dirt poor this year so going to make big batches of hedgerow jam for the grown ups, though not got many people to give to anyway as we have been working on getting agreements with as many family members as possible that presents are for children only.

    My to do list so far is;

    make hedgerow jam
    make felt food for DD
decorate dining room (is currently a playroom as I am a child minder but I'm fed up of it!)
exchange unwanted DVDs/CDs/games etc at CEX and use credit to get stocking fillers
    buy stocking fillers for DH/DS/DD
Declutter DS's room (if I'm brave enough!)
    Stock up freezer

I also follow a thread on Mumsnet known as Fellatio's Poncetastic Christmas Thread which is brilliant and very funny if you're into the whole home-made Christmas thing.

Looking forward to it, Christmas is my favourite!

Yay!!! I too am unprepared for Christmas this year! Me and OH will be heading home over Xmas time to it'll be an expensive time!!

Need to make a list of people who I'd like to get presents
Make a list of potential gifts
Use up last years leftover paper and get Xmas cards cheap!

  • So far, 1 Xmas pressie bought.
I will still be using the mounds of wrapping paper that I've bought from previous years. So no buying of wrapping paper for me this year.

Yahoo! It's never to early to have an Xmas thread!

I have some presents bought so am reasonably prepared:xmastree::xmassmile:santa2::snow_grin
    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.

I ventured into the Christmas drawers (under bed) whilst decluttering. I have enough cards and paper and a few gift bags. I need to write a list but I do have a few ideas for gifts in my head.
I'd like to have got it all bought and wrapped by 1st December. Now there's a challenge.

    Ohhhhhhhhh Christmas thread!!! Yay!

I'm partially organised, plenty of cards and paper from years gone by.

We only buy for DD's (19 and 16), my parents and my inlaws - oh and one nephew will get £10 (we stop buying for nephews and nieces once they've turned 16)

DD's have had new laptops ready for the start of term at college and Uni, these are combined, early christmas presents from us and inlaws. They will get a couple of smaller presents and a stocking each on the day. I've already got 4 bits for DD1 and am doing a "swap" with another crafter for another present for her (in exchange for one of my paper cuts). I shall be looking for other swaps for DD2 too.

Stockings tend to contain toiletries, body sprays, handmade soaps etc along with sweeties so I shall start collecting stuff each week with the shop now!

Need to start thinking of food!

    Love Christmas x
I have to totally declutter my house and clean as we have had such a difficult year the house has become a mess.

I set myself the goal of Christmas as we will need the table and it is currently covered in tat.

Christmas will be a much more simple affair this year - the kids have been warned!!!!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • I love Christmas as well :)

Have made lots of preserves and will be making hampers for those I know like handmade gifts. I think so much nicer than rushing into a shop and picking something up off the shelf. I know, if someone gives me a hand made gift, that they have put a great deal of thought into it.

    Thank you for this thread.
