We have a what's irritating you thread, and I think we need a thread for things that have made us smile, etc.

Me - well, we have a puppy who is now 8 months. I let her out this morning and was hoping to keep the door open for her to come in. But it was too windy. I was stood by the door waiting for her, expecting to see her come down the steps.

I then heard a tap at the door. She'd come down the steps, which I hadn't seen and tapped to be let in. She also taps to go out.

I worked out what the police were doing in the town park yesterday
It was to do with the 2 attempted armed robberies in the town, the staff at both shops refused to hand over any cash and the knife wielding robbers got away with nothing

    Daylight

For the last few weeks my 4pm walk with the dog has started in either twilight or dark and finished in the dark but today I left home at 4:10pm in daylight and got home at 4:50pm in twilight

With the clear sky it was cold but it also gave me that extra bit of time with light in the sky

This might qualify me a saddo but my Flightradar24 app on my iPad has a mode where you can point it up at the sky and it will show you the planes currently in the sky against the real background

The Cinema Snob's latest review - it's here if you want to look at it, but be warned, contains strong language and may be NSFW:

These aren't Runner Beans that you've FULLY COOKED and frozen yourself are they ?
I guess shop bought OR just blanched if home grown ?

    Bailie is your dog ?
Hope it's a really big one, not a tiny weeny thing, and had no more than a few fragments.

You do know that they are POISIONOUS to BOTH HUMANS and DOGS until they been boiled for about 5 to 7 minutes.

It's been suggested that frozen ones are worse than fresh off the plant because the cell structures burst releasing more of some specific proteins found in some plants, especially certain legumes, contained in a lectin called Phytohaemagglutinin

Another one to add to chocolate, onions, garlic and grapes to mention a few

The only info I can find about them being poisonous is about the seeds/pulses inside needing to be boiled. There are no seeds/pulses, just the outer green bit.

Like Pyxis I also used to eat beans straight off the plant, as well as peas, I am not dead yet!

As you say it's the "beany" bits.
Of those you are likely to eat, Soya and "genuine" Kidney Beans cause the most upset.
Quite unlikely to kill you, unless you ingest vast quantities.
But will quite easily cause stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Runner beans are a little less upsetting especially if they are really young tender "baby" ones that have not formed proper seeds (beans) inside.
Don't think peas have anything to worry about.

Of course, at the other end of the scale is the CASTOR BEAN from which we get Castor oil.
A SINGLE bean is enough to kill an adult in a few minutes due to its RICIN content, it's thought that just one milligram is required.

As it happens all my dogs had relatively small amounts of most of the "banned" foodstuffs over their lives - a bit of onion in leftover cottage/shepherds pie, plus garlic in chilli con carne, the occasional grape and a Kit-Kat at Xmas .....

.... then again they were all 65 to 75 kg Great Danes
