Default Where to buy condensed milk cheaply?

Does anyone know where i can buy condensed milk for less than 1.20 a tin (sainsburys) as I use quite a lot in baking. Does anyone apart from carnation make it?

I've got a recipe to make it if you ask nicely.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

I've never seen supermarket branded C.M.
Fussel's brand is often cheapest and I usually buy a few tins if I see it on special offer.
Haven't seen it for a while though.
Looks like you might have to pay the 1.20 !
Perhaps thats why you have had lots of view and no replies - we all wanted to know where to get it cheaper!

No, sorry! Looked at Tesco online and it's the same price, same brand.

Possibly Sunday evening isn't the best time to ask - not many people off to the shops atm

Here's the recipe to try, it's simple to make and a good substitution.

Sweetened Condensed Milk

180ml boiling water
85g unsalted butter (not marge)
200g caster sugar
320g powdered milk

Combine all ingredients in electric blender until thick- approx 2 minutes.

Store in refrigerator.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Is that for condensed milk? That price sounds more like it`s for evap milk, which is miles cheaper.

maybe people looked in thinking it was a recipe or recipe request - if you had put 'where can I get condensed milk cheap?' as the title it may have avoided your frustration over views and no comments.

Evap milk is thin, about as thick as single cream, where condensed milk is thick and creamy and very sweet, boiled in the tin can be turned into carmel.

some recipes need evap and some need condensed.
