Getting a costume to advertise my company.

Hi,

I recently bought an empty shop and am currently turning it into a milkshake bar (yes another one, but this will have a twist!). I have been looking at my competitors and the one thing most of them have (in particular the biggest company Shakeaway) is a costume that dances around and hands out leaflets in the street. The council have said I am able to do this and I really think it will attract interest and generate a good lot of business when I open. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether its worth spending the money on one? Do you know the best place I should look to getting it made?

Many thanks in advance!

A milkshake costume? Pantomime cow costume? Hard to say if it's worth it, but the markup on shakes is so hefty it only needs to sell 3-4 extra every hour to cover wages. That said how about doing the whole 1950's theme properly with uniforms etc?

worth getting a frozen yogurt machine? It's fashionable just now and fits the business line.

on Aliexpress, you may find a suitable ready-made mascot costume you can buy off the peg.

I don't want to sound negative but if this is something all your competitors do then maybe you should be thinking of something different to stand out - I don't know what your 'twist' is or if that's something you can play on.

Also think about your target market. I live in a city and yes there are quite a lot of them around. It tends to be though that they're either marketed towards the kids/families so then they might have cartoonish characters and things, or they're trying to be quite trendy and aim for the students/young 20s market and so then they might go for the retro look or something a bit different.
