Plastering quote

I'm looking at getting a room plastered, on bare bricks. The room is not square and has two extra corners, meaning eight total walls. There's one door and two windows. Excluding those three "holes", the total wall area is 36 square metres (assuming 3m height)
My quotes so far are between £700 and £900, which is basically £20-£25 per square metre. That's for a base layer (either wet plaster or battens and plasterboard, and a finishing layer).
I've mostly seen estimates around half this amount or less, and some friends report getting quotes of around £200 for the same area, but I don't know if that's quite honest or for the same thing.
Any comments?
Thanks

you can't compare your friends quotes of getting a room skimmed, because yours will need either boarding or rendering first. that's a whole other job, that takes longer and materials cost a LOT more than skimming.
The £200 they've being quoted is just for the skimming0 -

Yes, I see. So do you know how much it should cost to have it rendered and skimmed, "is this quote fair?"0 -
I'd suggest that's a bit high. You should get 3 quotes anyway but depending on your location, budget about £100-150/day for a spread and aound £200 with a labourer. On top of that you would have materials so I'd suggest in the region of £5-600. Regional prices will vary. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

in my experience with plasterers over the last year I've discovered that quotes really do vary enormously. We have had a combination of full plastering, skimming, rendering and ceiling work done on and there now isnt a surface wall or ceiling that hasnt had something applied to it.
We used at least 6 different plasterers and obtained quotes from many more and in honesty I think if a plasterer fancies doing a particular job you will get a competative quote...if it doesnt fit easily into his diary then the job will probably be priced high.
some plasterers will quote by the day rate and others per surface.
one example being our conservatorty that needed rendering to a quality to paint...the quotes varied from £900 to £425 and we had a fantastic job done for the lower price!
I dont think there is a ballpark figure per m2 it really just is a case of finding what you are comfortable with to do the job for the price you want to pay.....having also spoken to our plasterers many of them seemed to work off the figure of £100 per surface...so converting that very general quote tot your situation it may seem that 8 surfaces would equal around £800.
Its also a rough calculation that seemed to apply to our hous too once everything was complete.
Make of that what you will!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
