Bank Cashiers, seeing DLA Payments, ask questions?

When you go to a bank, and chat to a bank cashire about your bank account, then if you have your dla payment going into there, can they get nosy/ and ask questions?
about your health and care? ?

(as some bankers are nosy, and have access to your accounts)

Or bank cashires have no right to ask about peoples funds in their account, no matter if state benefit or disability.

some jobs they have to 'sign' something not to disclose or be nosy.

Have you ever been questioned about your dla in your bank account by cashires/bankers ?

It's none of their business. I would complain if my bank asked such questions.

I'd get some more context before suggesting a complaint - there is a difference between someone being intrusive and someone showing genuine concern.

As far as I'm concerned there is no difference between being intruisive and showing concern they are both wrong.

If you are enquiring about a loan or mortgage, then I would say that the bank has a right, and a responsibility, to ask about your state benefits - after all, they are not guaranteed income and can change.

However, if we're talking about just popping into the bank and paying in a cheque or withdrawing money, and the cashier starts to question you about any benefits paid into your account, I would say that this is none of their business. If a cashier questioned me about the DLA or income support that goes into my account, I think I would be inclined to ask why they wanted to knopw, and request a supervisor.

I bank with Santander and recently asked about changing my account to the 123 account. I had a sit down chat with one of the staff, along with a cup of coffee, and we spoke about whether the change would be beneficial for my circumstances. She didn't ask about my benefits, she just pointed out the good and bad regarding the account type that I had enquired about. I mentioned them, as I am aware that the system is changing (to Universal Credit) and I wanted to know if the account would be suitable once government changes had taken place - at this point I don't know if I will be better off or worse off, or stay the same. We also discussed, at my instigation, whether the account would be suitable once my mortgage is paid off.

I haven't ever been asked about the payments into my account or the reason I get them.

I would also assume that any staff with access to your account is not allowed to disclose details to an outside party - so no chatting about it to a mutual friend, or the woman down the road. On the other hand, if the cashier noticed something that was cause for concern, I would think that they can bring up the matter with their supervisor.

You mean nosy that they have checked your disability funds? or questioned you ?

I have a fairly basic bank account. The specific account I have requires that a certain amount is paid in every month. I am unable to work but have my DLA, ESA and Housing Benefit all paid into this account - together they make up the minimum amount required.

Every so often I have a 'health check' on my bank account - to ensure that I am on the most appropriate account. For this I would certainly be asked if I am still on DLA, if my health has improved and if I am likely to continue getting the same benefits paid into my account.

I don't see this as being 'nosy' about my own health. Just my bank making sure I fulfil the conditions of the account.

Yes, my DLA goes into my savings account as its used for large item purchases to make my life easier. I put other money into it and have had a raised eyebrow as to why I have a benefit paid into an account that sometimes has a healthy balance. This because I manage to work, or use the DLA for one of the things we are paid it for.

raised eyebrow? - what did you tell them?

and did they question the amount you are getting, and your disability/health ?

Nope, far more fun for them to think I claim benefit and work too !
