Afternoon,
I am thinking of doing a monthly Food shop any tips on how to plan?
I have a Costco card do I am going to go there first and get all meat
and washing powder
I am thinking this way I will only need to do a small fresh shop weekly?
Any tip?

Hi, If it is meat you are buying from Costco, the write down meals around that. Are you thinking of mince, stewing steak, chicken - that sort of thing? We never have this sort of meal during the summer months so I can't help there. But if it was winter then would be buying this sort of thing and making meals from that and freezing.
Only buy what you would ever buy anyway. It sounds obvious, I know.
Also think about bin bags, food bags, washing up liquid, bleech (if you use it) or toilet cleaner, toilet rolls, tooth paste, soap, shower gel, bread (if you have room to freeze a loaf or three), cheese, butter/spread, crackers (this is the sort of thing we buy every two weeks from Aldi) Snacks (if you buy) fruit juice, cereal, wraps, wine, beer.
Its those little things we find that you run out of and end up "just calling" at the Co-op for one thing and its never just one thing.

I do a very large monthly shop.. 1 month I stock up on tins/jars/pasta/packets etc... the next month housey things.. wash powder, bleach, dishwasher stuff, loo rolls etc and the third month I fill all 3 freezers.
Each month I replace the stuff we have run out of (bacon, cheese, cat food, etc)
I don't meal plan but I also don't go to the shop for extras like frozen stuff or meat... just fruit, veg, bread and milkLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
