Where do you keep yours?
Our son wants a bike, but dad is asking where we're going to keep it?
We have one of those PVC sheds, so I suggested there, but dad had a fit and said it would rust out there.
I thought most folk kept their bikes outside - am I havering?

Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

If you leave it outside, its going to turn rusty. So we keep ours inside the shed, or inside the porch.
It depends on the value of the bike, the kids bikes are in the shed.0 -
I thought the shed wd be fine - everything else is in there!!Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

If its expensive it should be kept in the house.
If its a cheapy, then lock it up to something in the shed or garage.
Thieves will steal cheap bikes also, however the hit is not as bad.0 -
I use roof pulleys
2 in the kitchen,1 in the stairs

Shed is fine for most bikes. I keep mine in the house though as I use it every day and it's also a condition of my insurance that it's in a locked building overnight.0

Yes you're right, value will have a lot to do with where its kept I suppose. Our son is 15 never had a bike in his puff, never expressed any desire for one until now, so we'll see how things pan out.Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

I keep my bike successfully in a PVC box shed, the chain will go rusty if not oiled but apart from that its fine despite living in one of the wetter bits of the uk. I have to take the front wheel of to get it in.
Having said that my new bike (worth 3 times my car) won't be out side.0 -
Shed, garage, wherever - but out of sight (theft) and out of the weather (rust and general deterioration). If space is a problem, get some big hooks (sometimes called ladder hooks) from B&Q, Wickes etc. and screw them into a roof beam somewhere, then hang the bike up from its crossbar out of the way.
If theft is likely to be a problem, then get a good lock and chain, and lock it to something solid as well. Frame and wheels. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Was going to ask this question myself. Would it be a big problem to store the bike outside with a tarp cover? I don't have space inside at the moment, not until the end of the year when i move. It will be used once or twice a week.0
