No, No, No, No, No! Search the forums, they're a nightmare. From my own experience we received a broken item and it took 3 months and the threat of legal action to get our money back. Order at your own risk!

I ordered from them a month ago - after the purchase they emailed to say that as a 'security check' I would have to send or email a bank statement or utility bill!! Until this was done my order would be on hold!! When I explained that the item was fairly urgent and it would take too long to post off proof of address they advised that I scan and send the details by email! I explained that this was not a secure way of passing around private info! I requested a refund and explained that I'd never been asked for such info before in years of online buying - the refund came through 3 weeks later but only after I had to ring to hassle them for it - I would recommend avoidance.

I had no problems, personally. And when the item broke I got a replacement. But if there are a large number of bad experiences then it might be safer to look elsewhere.

Thanks everyone so far...I'm getting the general idea that a number of people have had bad experience,

any thoughts on Digital Direct or Sound & Vision (look like they are the same company, (by their Registration number)

Although only sound & vision say they are VBA t/a Sound and vision, digital direct only state they are digital direct

Unwanted or damaged items have to be sent back to some place in France. Takes a while for any refund.

I hope you realise their parent company is DSG international plc - ie the owner of those so respected UK brands: Dixons, Currys & PC World.

See the E-Commerce section of 'Our Brands' on the http://www.dsgiplc.com website : "Pixmania is already a market leading e-tailer of consumer electronic goods in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, and the business is growing strongly in all countries in which it has a presence.
In 2006, DSG international acquired a controlling 77% stake in its parent company, Fotovista."

Enough said I'd have thought!

Indeed, enough to put most sensible people off.

Be very careful with them. I had a faulty camera from them last Christmas and it took until April to finally get a refund. Absolute nightmare. They do a VIP card I believe where you get much better service if you have any problems but it costs and hardly seem right to me. It's a shame because their prices are good.

I bought a wireless card from them recently. Despite the negative comments about this company I still orderd though them as they were almost 20 cheaper.

It arrived quickly a few days later with no problems whatsoever

Thanks again for the comments everyone.

I'll be spending 600+ with them so obviously I'm keen to ensure I dont get the run around.

I have similar prices for the Yahama Sound projector from Digital direct, Sound & Vision and Pixmania

Lasky's who again I've never heard of do a price match but wouldnt drop the 60 to meet the Best price

and comet have the item but not in Black at a decent price, cheapest there is 999 for the black one and 699 for the silver. But my other half wants the black one as it'll go with the rest of his kit!

I got a data projector from them about a year ago - no probs at all. The cheapest place, and no hassle. but after reading other people's experiences, I'm thinking phew, I must have been lucky! Check out specialist forums for what you're buying. There is an AV (audio visual) forum somewhere (which helped me decide which model to buy) - plus people on these kind of forums are often updating their 'stuff' and selling their present 'stuff'.

I bought a fridge through them. Same price as Currys. Their customer service was awful, and they refused to pay the commission (rpoints or quidco, can't remember which). In the end it was delivered by Currys. It would have been easier to have just bought it direct!

Camera came with a manual in French, and they refused to send me an English one. Admittedly it did say it was French on the website, but on a page with 2,749 other words in small print on it.

Plus, they only appear to post positive reviews to their site......negative reviews and negative ratings they just ignore.

Personally, they were great to deal with for us. We bought an LCD TV for circa 750 which was at least 300 cheaper than other retailers at the time.

Delivery was on time and product was fine, had to do the normal checks with ID, etc, but didn't mind this as this was good protection as far as I was concerned.

Understand people have had a bad experience with them, but got to say that is a total contrast to our experience.

They adopt a typical French customer service ethos i.e none! I've shopped with them a few times and had no problems, though I could always go and bang on their front door if there was
