If you had £55,000

for a short period of time (one - two months only) - where would you put it?

I'm thinking my husbands cheque account isn't the best home for it....

2% or so in whatever's the best account on MSE's Easy Access Savings Account list.

You'd get about 80 quid a month before tax.

    Withdrawable on demand.

Cheque a/c is as good a place as any for 1 to 2 months. If you have a savings a/c then move it there but not really worth wasting time for such a short period imho.

My current account pays 1%. There are far worse instant access accounts and deposit accounts don't pay a huge amount more so I'd tend to agree although for £40 a month it is still free cash for a little time especially if the 1 month drags on to 6 months or a year.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Not trying to be funny here but 40 quid for basically opening an account is good money to me.

Assume it takes 2 hours. You've just made 20 quid an hour.

I'd do it for you for half! ;)
