Finished A Debt...

Hi all,

Just a little note to share my :j at having finished paying back my dad. My personal priority creditor and now i have an extra £250 a month to pay the balance transfer card off before the interest hits.

I love it when a plan seems to be working!

Thanks to all for your advice and support.

  • That's really great news!!!

I feel paying of a personal debt - even if it's not gathering interest - does much more for you emotionally... It feels good to have repaid someone you know and care about who was good enough to help you out when you really needed it...

Well done!!! You've made real progress!!!

Well done Th1984 - I know some people look at paying off the debts that have the highest interest rates, but we are all individuals and if paying back to someone who we care about and was kind enough to help us out is the first priority, then it matters not a jot what order it comes in. A triumph is a triumph in my book. Sincere well done being thrown your way!

Edited to add: Hitachi will be no more this time next month, I reckon, if you are sensible. Mega well done xx

    Thanks for all your replies,

Life really has a way of b@@gering up best made plans doesn't it! when coming back from our in laws last night the passenger door of our car has started to develop a fault (common with this type of car, 1/4 doors already failed) which I know will cost me £300 to fix as I have already been through it once!

So the point of this post is that I am going to include my budgeting cc in my sig and DF plans. I have never considered it a debt before as I only use it for spreading the cost of running two cars to an even £200 per month so I can budget it. The original plan being to get to a point where it was paid off and start saving the excess, eventually in x years being 'ahead' of a years motoring costs. (Fuel budgeted separately)

However, I have used it to give myself loans over 12 months on certain white good issues. I.e tumble dryer failing, need a new one. TV in the bedroom as my wife has recently become almost bed bound in the latter stages of pregnancy and now I have to add £300 on to it for this door!

So I will add it to my sig after this post and take it on the chin, as I don't have much other choice!!

A DF Xmas to you all

    Massive congrats!
    It must feel great.

It sucks that you've had to take on more debt, but just think how much of a better position to take on this debt you are than before you started the DF process! :T
