Use local wi-fi hotspots, or buy a French PAYG SIM with a data allowance. No free lunch, and no free laptop

B&You charges €0.05/MB and Lycamobile charges €0.09/MB. These are the only French networks that don't impose expiry dates on credit top-ups.0

It comes down to how much you want to browse the Internet.
The UK carriers have various deals and with a PAYG SIM you can, at least, limit your liability.
I have a Vodafone PAYG SIM and that is £2 for up to 25MB in a day in most EU countries. The T-Mobile deal (£10 for 50MB within 30 days) is more expensive for some usage patterns but better if you just want a few a few e-mails over a longer period.
If you have a contract SIM move it to a device that won't use data and you won't be the next person on the forum with a huge bill !0 -
This can be a good option when a local SIM card is not a viable option, and I also have a Vodafone PAYG SIM just for data roaming. However, you are charged for the full 25MB even if you don't use all of it. In France, B&You or Lycamobile will therefore always be cheaper, as they will charge you only for what you use.Im_just_careful wrote: »I have a Vodafone PAYG SIM and that is £2 for up to 25MB in a day in most EU countries.0 -

I got one for 15 Euros, all you can eat for one month
mind you - my mobile was unlocked to any network so make sure it will work with your mobileWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
£5 would normally buy 500MB of data for one month. £5 for one day is therefore extremely expensive, and much more than the £2/day price from Vodafone quoted above. The OP is doing the right thing by getting a local SIM card; data roaming is unreasonably expensive.Notmyrealname wrote: »Three PAYG with the Euro Internet Pass data option which is £5 per day unlimited data.0 -

The B&You one is very difficult to get outside France. It seems you need to order online with a French credit card and French address. I haven't found a way around this yet.the local sims seem good value. where would be the best place be to get one in france or is it possible to get one in england before we went to france.
I successfully ordered a free Lycamobile SIM card to my UK address (with €1 free credit), although it took three weeks to arrive. If you don't receive it in time, you can also buy them in France, although the latter option probably won't be free.0
