LBM in 2003.. What have I been doing since??! 5th Jan 12 at 3:32 PM
    Hello

I have decided to start a diary. Have lurked on here since early 2009, subscribed to loads of threads, loved all the camaraderie and found it very useful for getting shot of debt, starting savings and all that kind of good stuff but then have slipped and skidded into more debt, especially as I left a FT job this spring and yet seem to be still living as if I was FT and not PT...loving feeling more human though and seeing more of the kids but financially it's not great. I need to welcome and appreciate living a much more frugal life.

HOWEVER..even writing that seems bonkers as for a household we are well off with an embarrassingly high income of about 90k gross. But clearly as the newly updated signature shows there is no hiding that we (OH, me and 2 DDs) are living beyond our means, failing to prioritise the right things and generally need to rectify all this otherwise, well no otherwise, it simply can't continue. All the savings and OP pot will go and I won't be able to rob Peter to pay Paul anymore which is what I think I have been doing.. Not sure ( which is also embarrassing ) but must have been plus then started to use the 0% credit cards again which can be a slippery slope if not used properly.

I am going away now to do some more on why I have got myself into this mess, ensure I am clear there is no going back and also what my goals are. Hoping this will help me focus and as you guys ( hope you're reading are such a supportive bunch on here I am hoping you will also help me! But even if no one reads, I think I need the discipline of sticking to a programme..I can't afford to slip again. This needs to be a new permanent way of life. Currently we try and do all the things that make us feel good about ourselves, the world, the environment, our family..but perhaps we can't do it all and need to make choices? I guess everyone must but we have just not had to as yet.

So a few things to do. Sorry for rambling first post but I needed to take the first step!! Which also reminds me must check out the 'what DFW things have you done today' thread..that used to be magic. Used to love doing that 'stock take' every day

    Onwards and upwards

    Cheers

    Brizzle

Well done getting to the end of the two weeks will all things in tact and stuff achieved too I managed a 5k run yesterday. So 11k in 3 days I'm happy with. I'm away this weekend, but already packed running gear in hope I can get in at least one run, even if a short one. Have a lovely weekend. I'll let you know how I get on.

So a slow day today..thank goodness. Done the VAT form, checked the mortgage account (£144k..weyhey ) and lazed in my garden

A spendy day as I had my hair done but it was budgeted for. Although the nutribullet wasn't...but darn it I thought as I looked at an overflowing fruitbowl...anything that gets us all juicing more. It should arrive tomorrow so we can play with it then.

Have cooked HM tea...ovenbaked tumeric chicken, new potatoes, green salad and tomato salad. Kids can help themeslves..I am off to the gym

    Have a great evening folks

It sounds as though you have had a lovely day. I haven't ever made turmeric chicken but as I have a huge bag of turmeric I am going to look for a recipe for tonight xx

    Hi poohbear

It was just a simple marinade of tumeric, lots of yoghurt, onions, garlic, seasoning. Then grill or roast the marinaded chicken. Yummy with green salad.

Good stuff..great minds think alike TC!! How are you? Sorry haven't been by recently..RL just gets in the way particularly when OH is away

Its great. Love the smoothie I made this morning and it may, just may get us through our banana mountain

Just listed a few items on Bay of E. Wont make much difference but need to get closer to that £750 goal. Also cleaned kitchen, meal planned (but will involve some grocery shopping), skipped the gym (is that an action or an omission??? ) and changed lots of beds before the students arrive. Daughter was with friends at the Pride march so Mum ended up doing the laundry - can't miss out on a bit of pegging out when the weather is like this...which reminds me..hows Alice doing? Haven't heard from her recently. Hope all OK.

    Have a great day folks

Purple Fairy's post reminded me of when I took my gym gear to Ibiza and went running every morning. All good until the morning I was chased by builders shouting at me in Spanish. So embarrassing. I didn't do it again after that.

Epic fail on exercise this weekend..apart from one class on Friday. OH back and jetlagged..grumpy and everyone madly prepping for the week ahead. But...am going away with a friend overnight this week and taking a day off work so not all bad

Went to the cinema but went to the cheapie one with a free adult ticket so £20 for 5 of us. Result. Nice dinner at home and HM pancakes for brunch. Bit more planning for the Xmas trip but nothing further booked as yet. Have been stashing spends on a credit card that gives me hotel points but means a big bill to pay this month as well as tax, VAT yadda yadda so need to be careful with the OPs. Loads of washing washed and drying with this gorgeous weather but not a sniff re the EBAy stuff I listed, but fingers crossed for next week. Food quality has dipped a little this weekend, almost craved caffeine, carbs and sugar, but still no alcohol.

    Have a good evening all

    Much love

Well done on the AFDs, I've not managed any yet this month and don't think I will until house refurb is finished, feel I need something to look forward to at the end of the day. Will be back on the case soon though. One of my friends is currently 19 days AF and reckons she feels no better for it. Weather is gorgeous - long may it last

excellent new on the AFD brizzle I won't even begin to mention what I've consumed this weekend... other than it included the most epic G&T cake ever and that wasn't the only booze consumed either I tend to find I just can't do all balls in the air together, so its either food or exercise or booze vary rarely all 3 on the money together IYSWIM.

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine, was amazing here. Purps x

It sounds like another lovely weekend in the Brizzled household. Well done on AFDs. Maybe I should try that again as I gained two pounds last week.

For anyone who likes GandT I recommend a tall glass of skinny tonic with lots of slices lemon and lime. You won't even miss the gin.

Hello lovelies - that sounds delicious pooh.. I am currently quaffing green tea from a flask a dear friend gave me. It tastes luscious even though it's the second time I have used the bag! V I will probably have wine this eve as going out for a long arranged event using loyalty points and a bottle of wine is included but it'll have been almost two weeks without alcohol which is pretty darn good for me. I do feel better and as though i wouldn't have managed without removing it. Had 4 hours sleep last night interrupted by a trip to collect students from a delayed flight.. so reckon I'd be very challenged if I wasn't looking after my health. Do need to work from home one day soon to get my classes up. Otherwise first class I can do may be Friday?

In MSE news we have a houseful and most are paying guests Have batched cooked for first few meal and planned a few more. Charging phones as ever at work and on trains. Will nag OH to put in his overtime sheet. No bids on the auctions yet. Must check my CS totals as can put that towards my tax bill.

    Hope everyone is good

A NSD yesterday but not a AFD but very low key. A glass of prosecco and a glass of wine. Could have been much worse. The best thing was 9 hours sleep... much much needed.

Thanks for all the lovely comments folks - greatly appreciated

Two more AFDs, and a couple of TTs.. one of a princely 94p!! not sure of plans today - have some paid work to do, but awaiting on others for more. May try some more sleep and maybe an exercise class.

    Hope everyone is well
