Royal Mail sorting office/mail centre phone numbers? 20th Feb 11 at 8:18 AM
I have a tracked item missing in the post. Well technically not missing but was sent first class on 08/02/2011. Having been missing for 9 days on Friday it turned up at the Tyneside Mail Centre. I understand they will have probably sent it on somewhere else by now but I have been looking for their phone number with no luck. I want to contact them to check the parcel has the correct address.

I have contacted Royal Mail customer services but they were less use than a chocolate fire guard. I am having to do their job for them.

Please if anyone can find the phone number of the Tyneside Mail Centre or a sorting office in the Newcastle area I will phone them.

    Thanks

    Mike

They dont like people contacting them because they know it will be a complaint so thats why they make it as difficult as possible.

0191 282 8040 North Tyneside Delivery Office, Cumberland Road, North Shields, Tyne And Wear

I got that one off google, don't know if it's the one you want but they might be able to give you the correct number if it isn't.

edit to add this is the page I got it from and there are some different numbers for different sorting offices of Tyne and Wear.

    Thank you all.

To cut a long story short.

Yes it is a tracked item.

Story is it was sent from Ireland 08/02/2011 and should have been delivered next day.

On 11th I advised sender of non delivery.

On 12/13/14/15/16 & 17th I also advised sender of non delivery.

On 18th I phoned sender and was given the tracking number.

I could then see the package arrived at Teesside Mail Centre 10/02/2011 and was on its way. Well it did not get here.

I managed to find the phone number of Teesside Mail Centre and spoke to a helpful lady on Sat 19/02.

I continued to track & trace and noticed this morning it has shown up at Tyneside Mail Centre. I live near Whitby so its going in the wrong direction!

Anyway the lady I spoke to at Teesside M C phoned me today to say it was back at Teesside and she had it in her hands. I took the opportunity to check it was addressed properly & in good condition. She is personally making sure it is sent to my local sorting office this afternoon to be delivered tomorrow.

    11 days late

    Fingers crossed

    Mike

You've got more chance of scaling the Eiger Mountain in your underpants than getting a complaint recognised by Royal Mail. They are the experts at blocking all avenues of complaint.

I complained about missing and lost mail recently. This is the response I got ...

" Thank you for contacting Royal Mail.

Thank you for your recent complaint from which I am sorry to learn of the problems you are experiencing with the delay and loss of mail.

Of the huge volumes of letters and packets we handle, very few encounter a problem along their way - but we take every single failure seriously, so I apologise if we've let you down on this occasion.

I'm sorry that I cannot process enquiries of this nature via email; this is due to the specialised investigation required that may involve the provision of supporting information. To progress your enquiry you will need to complete one of our claim forms, known as 'P58 Inland Lost, Damaged or Delayed Mail form'. These are available from any Post Office or alternatively you can download this form using the following link:

    www.royalmail.com/p58

In order for us to process your request as quickly as possible, it's
essential that you complete the form fully, enclosing all supporting
    documentation as requested.

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of Royal Mail for the problem you've had, and our thanks for taking the time to make us aware of this. Please be assured that we take letting our customers down seriously and will use this information to make further improvements.

    Regards

I really love this bit ... "Please be assured that we take letting our customers down seriously". They certainly do ... the one thing they are good at, letting customers down!
