    Finding branch address from IBAN

Finding branch address from IBAN 11th Jan 11 at 9:21 AM
My internet banking requires the address of the receiving bank in order to process a SWIFT payment. Does anyone know if there's somewhere online that I can key in the IBAN and find out the details of the branch?

I have emailed the payee to ask them for the address so I will get it eventually but I was just interested to know if there's a way to do it myself.

Do you know the BIC code as well as the IBAN? If so:

If you know the sort code and account number (easily derivable from the IBAN)

    http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/demos/bankvalidator.aspx

will help. Assuming it's a UK bank of course.

As you correctly surmised it's not a UK bank, I'm not even sure if it's possible to do a UK to UK SWIFT payment (although of course I could have been initiating from outside the UK, but that's a lot of assumptions to make when the obvious scenario would be UK to overseas).

Branch 3290 gives the following address:

PLAÇA DEL TEATRE C. LA RAMBLA, 30 08002
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Many thanks to everyone who has been of help, I think that is likely to be the correct address as it's very close to where the payee lives.
