Default Halifax mortgage process how long

Hi

My husband and I apply for a mortgage with Halifax nearly 2 weeks ago. Now I can see my husbands credit report a unrecorded equiry from halifax but as of yet no one has rung us to ask for a payment towards the valuation.

How long before I should chase them??
Is it a bad sign we have not heard anything??
How long does it take halifax to issue and offer??

Sorry lots of questions
Thanks

have you gone direct to the halifax or through a broker?

Obviously I have little experience of the direct route, my personal experience of the broker route is that they are poor but if you keep on top of them (a bit of screaming and shouting!) then things will, eventually, get done. This is not unique to them though.
Happily an ex mortgage broker!

Chase it.

I would have expected them to collect the valuation fee the day he applied, and, if they had all the documentation they needed, to instruct the valuer there and then.

Somebody's not pressed the right button and nothing's going to happen until you find out what's needed to make it happen!

Call them in the morning.

Hi we applied submitted an inquiry for AIP on 28th October to Halifax. Got approved for this and submitted full application few dats later. Got a request then for 1 mths payslips for me & partner. Credit checked twice at this stage - 1 unrecorded enquiry and 1 for first mortgage. Payment taken from debit card for valuation around same time. Since my payslip had no company name on it had to wait few days to get proof from my employer. Valuer instructed 9th Nov and valuation done 11th Nov. Credit checked again after valuation for unrecorded enquiry - offer received last Monday.
Due to complete 16/12/09.

We used a FA for this and I phoned him everyday to get an update on the application and he in turn phoned Halifax everyday.

You need to push them it would appear. Good luck!

i Filled an aplication with halifax last friday and they required few things from accountant to be explained and faxed which they did.
On tuesday i poke to the halifax woman on the phone and she said she sent the aplication and likely to get a response wednesday or thursday from the underwritter- that because i m selfemployed.
i thought it comes in 2-3 day , and now i m reading it takes 2-3 weeks.!
Received the letter from accountant and they require to arrange survey within 14 days of this letter otherwise they ll put the house on the market.. now thats what i call pressure .

Does halifax have a number i can call regarding my application.? not keen on calling the woman that filled my application as have called her twice and she just says ''i ll call you latter '' and never does
thanks

Speak to a specialist mortgage broker. Ascertain the amount a lender will advance. Then find the house.
