Thanks Lilias tried the number and it was genuine apparently they did not have the house number and wanted to check. Just if the e-mail had said from what company I would have not been so suspicious thanks again

Hayes Contracts dodgy ipad comp?
Ended now but lot's of comments saying it was a friend of the owner that won. I didn't enter just putting it up for entertainment value.

One supporter says:-
When you make a competition in Facebook, let everyone you've ever known that they cannot enter incase they win, or you will receive abuse from habitual competition enters with no interest in you or your business...!!!
Do they mean US by any chance ouch

So Just received a phonecall from someone saying he was from the '12 Lottery'. Apparently I entered a competition for an Ipad 3 (which is more than likely at some stage), and I had now been put forward to the next stage (?).
The bloke then went on for around 5 minutes talking about the '12 Lottery' (can't find anything on google about it) and how I could have a years worth of lottery tickets for free, but first I had to have an ID check which required me to submit my credit or debit card details...at which point I made it quite clear that wasn't going to happen. Then the guy hung up.
Scam?

Emists Facebook iPad comp looks iffy.. http://www.facebook.com/pages/E-Mists/236513816495522
The number on their website leads to a PPI claims company here http://ppiclaimshelp.org/
Both use 0800 054 2007 and both gave it top o their sites http://e-mists.co.uk/ uses it
It's possible people could spend money here...which could be dodgier than trying to win a fictionaal iPad.
If you're not winning. You're not trying hard enough.

Unfortunately due to Facebook rules the last competition was void as pointed out by many users.
Therefore our competition will return next week under exact rules set out by Facebook. Thank you.
Baby you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell
You don't know (oh oh)
You don't know you're beautiful!

They are now saying, to enter the competition you need to make a purchase. I will unlike the page as they were trying it on, they never had 5 to give away and I doubt the first winner was genuine. I did think it funny that they never acknowledged their win the page. I was going to report the page but they have deleted all the old posts concerning the competition!

I just read almost the whole forum of scams. I've had a few aka you have won a car. I don't drive and don't plan too so wouldnt have applied to win a car. But I did have one that isnt here unsure how they got my details though.
It was from Gumtree they had seen my very very old advert and messaged via that. But gumtree doesnt show your details(if you click the box not too) you can only contact someone via gumtree not straight to your email address so found that dodgy straight away.
Anyway I was contacted by someone who said I had applied for a job and it was for cleaning for £15 per hour in a house up from me. He even sent over the address in email and went on to describe what was also in the house (this is from someone who has no idea who I am) I could have been a robber. I googled the house it didnt exist.
Next minute I know there is a £1378 pound cheque in the post for me via lloyds but by a DR Ian summat. Unusual amount. This guy was claiming he was a DR and was abroad helping sick children and that I was in charge of cleaning his house and looking after his 4 year old daughter (never asked for police checks or anything) infact he didnt even mention who was looking after his kid! His wife was also dead.
I would get £300 a week for a few hours once a day.
Here was the snag: I'm to pop that cheque in my bank and whilst its cashing I'm to withdraw that amount of money from my own savings and send him £1000 out of what is waiting to be cleared. Then when the cheque clears I get an extra £378.
Me being a bit smart and knowing I didn't give my details to any 'cleaning' job mainly because I actually had found a job and hadnt looked for any during the week he claimed I did. I popped that cheque to lloyds and asked them to deal with it. I later found out that it was a fake and its a scam.
Apparently the latest scams are for properties to rent and you've to deposit money to VIEW the property but you never get it back and boy the photos of this property are convincing.
Another is you will be paid in travellers cheques but you've to send back half in two weeks. Before its even cleared (takes 5 days to clear and two weeks to bounce you see)
And the one this guy thought I'd fall for was sending a huge amount out wanting me to cash it then send him money back. My first thoughts were 'If you have a bank account which you clearly do why don't you just draw your own money out?' that was enough for me to know it was a scam and the odd numbers of cash on the cheque.
The job ones are popular for scams that work. So many people are desperate for work that they are willing to do anything. Sadly if you put a cheque of a huge amount in your bank then #spend' it before its bounced you can get done for fraude and end up in jail. Whether you knew the cheque would bounce or not. (I had informed police of this cheque I had and they told me the details)
I was smart and knew no one would give me anything just willingly.

Can you post a link?
Is it the same as the win a holiday for a £1 that has been posted on here where you bid to win?
