If you go to the asda website and use the store locator it will give you your local stores phone number so you can call and check if they're open.

I thought all Supermarkets in England & Wales were closed today (except Tesco Express and other small local corner shop/petrol station ones?).

Is anyone's Supermarket open?
Ticket in a private car park in England/Wales?... DON'T PAY IT BUT DO NOT IGNORE IT- the advice changed in 2012/13!

CLICK on '>Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking>' end of the small blue 'Home>Forums>' link, top of the page, to see current threads.
Do NOT read older advice to ignore, unless it was in Scotland or NI.

Large shops where the floor area open to customers is 280 square metres are prohibited from opening on Christmas day and Easter day in England and Wales unless exempt. Asda is not exempt.

A friend works for Asda and she is a bit peeved at being laid off without pay today.

Laid off ~ it's a bank holiday that's all!

If she normally works a Sunday then she should get paid for today.

Some store such as B & Q open, as its worth them paying the fine for the amount of money they take on their busiest day of the year.

Today isn't a bank holiday!! When I was younger I worked for Menzies the newsagents. The girls who worked on Bank holiday Monday got double time, I worked on Easter Sunday, but it is not officially a Bank Holiday - banks dont open on a Sunday, so I didn't get paid any extra. I was so annoyed by this that I left!! What a load of jobsworths!!!
ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷
