    selfish, cheap, inconsiderate
of course you neglect to add the inconvenience and downright cheek of parking outside someones property for up to 2 weeks , often on the pavement and over the end of peoples driveways , quite simply if you can afford a holiday pay the bloody parking charges or !!!!!! off !!

We already struggle with parking for our own cars and as such "fly parking" is intolerable. Please respect those of us who live near the airport - we would never consider doing this to you.

If general politeness and basic human decency doesn't work for you, and you think inconveniencing local residents is still a cheap and reasonable option, please consider the following:

Airport taxis to and from our village round trip will cost you approximately £45 - You can get cheaper deals in long stay lots or services so I don't understand how you think you're saving money on parking!

There is only one train per hour and this stops after 11pm. It is generally a 15 minute walk to the station and it's not possible with a lot of luggage. You cannot walk to the airport from here.

You are risking your car being vandalised, stolen or broken into by youths (which has been an issue for actual residents!) - repairs considerably more expensive than long stay.

If this is not enough of a deterrant, for anyone considering this, please be aware that the local community is very active in this regard and there is a hotline for residents of Stansted Mountfitchet to report your number plates, and if it is up a kerb or on a public path so that a pram or a wheelchair cannot pass, we are able to ring the police to have it towed.

Thank you for supporting local businesses by paying for your parking and not inconveniencing residents with your vehicles.

Cheapest I have found today was Looking4Parking via Topcashback.

But made the mistake of thinking Meet & Greet for only around £5 more was worth it to save aggro of shuttle buses & waiting. What isn't clear until you've paid is that with Meet & Greet you also have to pay £4.50 cash on the day, each way, for the use of Stanstead Short Term carpark. So £14 total extra cost, not £5 ish. Option I bought is, of course, non cancellable! Live & learn!

I've used JustPark before for Stansted. There's parking at the Hilton which, even with the £6 return shuttle bus is much cheaper than anywhere else: https://www.justpark.com/search/?filter=1&q=Stansted+Airport%2C+Stansted%2C+United +Kingdom&ac_country=GB&place_id=ChIJw5TQG16O2EcRUb YzRxrXOBQ&location_name=Stansted+Airport&source=au tocomplete&coords=51.8899385%2C0.2617407000000185& start_date=20+Aug+2016&end_date=27+Aug+2016

    Parsonage estate
Just got back from Stansted after a 10 day break with transport+parking achieved at a total cost of £10 in petrol and £5.60 in bus fares. Can't beat that for convenience from East London.

Plenty of on street free parking in the Parsonage Estate area in Bishops Strotford. Frequent Arriva buses to and from the airport costing £2.80 and taking no more than 10-15 minutes. I landed in Stansted around 11pm on Sunday night, still had 2 local buses to Parsonage Estate within the next hour.

    Please note -
    1. There is PLENTY of parking available that is not right in front of someone's house, so please be considerate when settling upon a spot.

    2. The Arriva bus website is sh*t to put it kindly, so don't depend on it for up to date information. The timings displayed on the bus stop are more helpful.

    3. I drive a 10 year hatchback that already has its fair share of scratches and dents and is worth less than £1000. Would I leave it on the street for 10 days if it was a late model BMW? Maybe not. So if you have a choice of cars, take the shittiest one you have.

    4. Plenty of spots when you don't have to park half on the pavement or close to someone's driveway, so again, please be considerate both for the residents' sake and yours to avoid complaints/action by disgruntled neighbours.

    5. If you have 2 or more people on the group, or are in a hurry, consider taking an Uber to and fro. About £12 to the airport and £16 from the airport.

    6. Leave plenty of time to find a spot, park considerately and wait for a bus.

I used the midstay parking before to accompany my family to the airport. Just enter the car park, there is a designated parking for free. As far as I remember, it was close to the exit. There is a shuttle bus you take to and from the airport, no more than 10 minutes one way.

If residents have trouble parking that's the perfect case for a controlled parking zone. If there are no parking restrictions in place there's nothing ethically wrong with parking in a street. What a bizarre notion.
