Question Where to buy perspex/acrylic sheet?

Hi, I'm thinking about putting together some cheap shelving to display jewellery and would really appreciate some advice on where is the best place to buy acrylic sheet (perspex)?

Ideally, I would prefer to buy it online, but if it was easy enough to get locally then I would do that instead. Could anyone recommend an online supplier or a local supplier (I'm in Glasgow)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lori

Most DIY sheds (e.g. B&Q) sell perspex sheets.

Hi Honey9036,

There is lots of information on acrylic on this website- Acrylic centre There is also some links on where to buy etc.

I have made a few things myself, far better than wood for external use!

Good luck

Good prices and stocks to be found at www.greenhousewarehouse.com. They have also given me excellent, fast service a number of times.

Just searching for some cheap perspex and came across this thread - thanks to all who have pointed to potential sites - will check them out now.

As for Ebe's point, I think you're spot on, given the username above kitronik.co.uk/about/kevin-spurr

I just shopped around for some Acrylic (Perspex) sheet to cover a whole sash window for winter 2mm x 1920mm x 1050mm and the best price was £48.43 delivered.

From: sheetplastics.co.uk ...a pain with their website was that they don't display delivery price until you've registered etc

you can also try: livsupplies.co.uk

BTW the best price on magnetic tape to fit this was from Amazon a company called Direct Products:

Self Adhesive Magnetic Tape/Strip 15M X 12.7 mm White Adhesive
for £15.75 delivered.

I've just this minute ordered both and hope they are ok!

Can I ask - how did you get on with your orders? I was just looking for exactly that and for exactly the same reasons!!

Thanks,
David.

UPDATE

So I looked up some of the prices for perspex and worked out the per m2 cost. This was all for 3mm thick, and generally NOT cut to size. The cheapest are as follows and assumes service and quality is all comparable :
www.trentplastics.co.uk - 3050 x 2030 - £117.85 (+£13p&p)
Note - also on e-bay with free postage but costs more :-/
www.tubeway.co.uk - 2440 x 1220 (3 sheets) - £172.80 (+£25 p&p)
www.livsupplies.co.uk - 3050 x 2050 - £154.56 (+£10 p&p)
www.theplasticman.co.uk - 3000 x 2000 - £148.97 (+£13p&p)
www.acrylic-online.co.uk - 3050 x 2050 - £156.56 (+£10 p&p)

obviously plenty of others. Some of these will cut to size too and sometimes "cheaper". For example :
www.sheetplastics.co.uk - 1000 x 1000 = £24.72 (custom size)
3040 x 2040 = £153.30 (custom size = £24.72 m2)
but a "standard" size sheet, available ready cut, 3040 x 2040 = £166.20

Is it just me - or does that seem wrong somehow?
