I've done a chicken and veg pie (using a packet mix for the pastry as we got 8 of them from AF yesterday) and a windfall apple pie. I've got some eggs to use up, so it looks like there might be some apple and cinnamon cakes going in a bit later. September is on its way, and I could do with some more lunchbox fillers.

I've just taken a marbled birthday cake out of the oven for my son (he's 12 today) then I'm going to split it, spread with jam and buttercream, then coat the outside in chocolate icing.

Tis my birthday tomorrow and am having an afternoon tea/sports day party on Sat so have been baking lots recently. I have made:

    • Lemon and rosemary cupcakes
    • chilli chocolate orange brownies
    • Mini quiches (some cheese and mushroom, some cheese and bacon)
    • Mini pizzas (cheese and tom with oregano from the garden)
    • Apple and blackberry crumble cupcakes (in progress)
    • Apple and olive oil cake (from Ottelenghi cookbook)
    • Marshamallows (not strictly baking but so faffy they're worth a mention).

Nothing so far today, but yesterday I made a loaf of vegetable bread to go with the homemade tomato soup I made yesterday. I also made 10 spiced cherry scones, and a birthday cake for my DD1 for her 15th birthday today.
