Hmm, still waiting for the people who offered yesterday to get back to me. Is it wise to chase up the EA or will that make me look desperate?

The EA is the middle man and prevents you appearing desperate to the buyers so by all means call them. It's normal for an EA to ring for feedback anyway, unless the market is busy.

When we were looking at property in Feb-March (when houses were selling before even going to market), for the 5 or so viewings we had only one EA called us back for feedback. These last 2 months every EA has got back to me the next day. One of them even called a couple of hours after our viewing which is very unusual. Sign of a stagnant market at the moment.

It seems odd to me that, since Brexit, you continually post on a thread that is a support thread for sellers waiting for a buyer.
So how is your house sale going?!
And yes, before you criticise, you are entitled to post on any thread on this forum but there are many other threads where you can (and do) post your crash warnings without constantly trying to bring this one down.

I won't placate people, just offer realistic advice. The reason houses don't sell now is nearly always because the price is too high, if you lower it enough it will sell. If you have a problem with that, just ignore my posts. Other people post nonsense about houses selling for £60k more than asking prices yet I don't see you having any issue with that, wonder why?

My house sale - see post above. I didn't sell in the end. If that excludes me from posting here, I will. Sorry, didn't realise there were unspoken rules

Surely if we are heading for a crash it would be A GOOD THING to sell and go into rented?

I guess so, but I have been in rented before and wouldn't want to go back. I'd rather take the hit personally. :money:

About estate agents. Mine was okay. They called me too often if anything, it became a bit annoying as they were ringing just for the sake of it. "They haven't got back to me yet but just ringing anyway" etc.

The board was a problem though. For some reason they outsourced it to another company, and took ages to update it. Weeks on end. I had to keep ringing them, in the end i took it down myself.

  • They have no interest in retrieving the boards. They are worth less than the cost of the member of staff/outsourced company who takes them down.

I would go into rented to secure a sale, but it is mainly because of what I am selling (or not selling!) and what the "punters" are like.

    In theory, yes.

We sold and rented in the last Crash, imagining that people in the more economically depressed area we were relocating to would soon be biting our arms off.....

It didn't happen, though; at least not within the time scale we'd allowed. Slow-selling areas seem to be last to respond to market change. After all, if selling usually takes about a year, what's another year!

We were lucky in renting while interest rates were high. When you can get 6.7% on your stash of house dosh, it can pay the rent and a lot more besides. It's not like that now.

We were also lucky in having flexibility. There are always people looking for a quick sale, so we're 150 miles from where we expected, and the last place on Earth I wanted be for purely personal reasons. :rotfl:

So, I don't know if I'd sell and rent again. Probably, because our needs & wants are specialised, but I wouldn't think of it as a bit of a laugh, like I did last time! It's more a bit of a gamble.

Weirdly, I'm from there and have just moved back to Droitwich after 2 years of living with family in Solihull. Lovely house in a great part of town.
