I'd disagree too HB. To me that's like saying you shouldn't have decaff coffee or sugar free squash. Just because you like the taste but not the alcohol (or caffeine or sugar) then why stop drinking it. Perhaps you shouldn't even be allowed in the pub or pubs should stop selling AF drinks?? What nonsense!;)

I'm having an AF Friday which is unusual for me. Yesterday I found I'd gained 2.5 lbs:eek: in the past 7 weeks of socialising so my vanity is giving me the needed kick in the rear end. We're off to a local theatre so it'll be easier. Definitely no wine in the interval or ice cream either!

Exactly, Maman. I thought it was a very strange, heavily negative, thing to say. Whatever works is my motto. I know for you the biggest motivation is knocking weight gain on the head, so I hope losing the 2.5lbs is quick and painless.

There is a LOT of carp talked about booze and the longer I go without the more it irritates me. It's tough enough deciding that we're going to do without the 'Instant Relaxer' without people making up nonsense arbitrary 'rules.'

    15/31 please, Shaggy.

Today is the 5th anniversary of me deciding to give up alcohol and lead an AF life.

During the past 5 years my alcohol consumption has been....... 0

I don`t miss alcohol, the money I haven`t spent on booze has allowed me to do other things, and generally life is good.

Have I been tempted by booze during the last 6 years ?? - yes, but I fought those negative thoughts and have reprogrammed my brain to avoid the need for booze.

Will I be AF till my dying days - probably yes.

Good luck to all of you trying to get there like I have done.

Huge congratulations on your fifth anniversary, AnTonic and thanks for coming back to let us know! Lovely to hear there are people out there who cracked it and stayed off the booze - it gives us all hope.

    16/31 please, Shaggy.

    11/15 for me please. :)
In April I am taking a break from buying: Books
  • 14/31 for me as I took a little detour and had a glass of fizz on Fri and a couple of glasses wine last night.

Compared to a few weeks ago that is so so much less than I would have drunk. But I don't want this to be the thin end of the wedge so I am back on track and planning to stay on course for the remainder of the month.
