Knit Witch's NitWit LBM, debt busting with yarn! 24th Jun 13 at 3:53 PM
Okay I need to shift £3k of various debts, I need to shift rather a lot of weight and I need a plan! At the moment I have lots of yarn so I am planning on knitting to keep me away from snacking and on-line shopping

The main thing is I reckon I can clear £200 a month - possibly more so I need to knuckle down and do so! (and not buy any more! )

Had a quick call from the DWP this morning - just to keep me posted (this was the supervisor), he is sending an email to the person that should be dealing with my case and he IS escalating it - they will phone again as soon as they know something. He didn't quite use the term FUBAR but he did say that something had gone wrong in the system.

So much for the FUBAR - got the letter today and no change - how the flip they can justify this when I cannot walk 20 m without stopping and if I do it one day that is me burgered for the rest of the flipping week!

Ah! I have exactly *no* experience - but an appeal sounds most logical. I've heard of people getting support from advocates working for the charity that represents their need - because of my former occupation, that was usually MIND - is there anyone like that for you?

Debt busting a go go! Got a large payment back from a health thingy I set up 15 years ago that has come to fruition so S!mplyBe has been cleared and V3ry is down to £730 - which I hope to clear as soon as possible!

Okay another £60 paid off the bill

I checked with the benefits forum - someone said anything up to 30 weeks for the appeal to be heard if it goes on that long it will be WELL over a year since this debacle started!

£30 paid (and some interest added - grumble), but already 20% of the way there

Tomorrow and Monday will (hopefully) be paperwork sorting and then I can knit again (yay!)

Hurray for knitting! My craft/knitting stash has expanded enormously because of the amount of stuff I've inherited from my mum. At the end of the visit, my sister said "I'm never buying any material ever again!".

Another £30 cleared off V3ry - nibbling this down nicely! On another thread someone suggested knitting for The Mission for Seafarers - I reckon I could knit a few scarves with all my sock wool - which will use that up AND help a good cause!

Hiya KW - just having a little catch-up..

Fingers crossed your appeal is successful - the system is such a mine-field! It amazes me how some people who are comparitively fit get given everything, while those who really need help have so many obstacles to fight through - grrr!

Meanwhile, well done on beating down the shop-card balances!
