Restaurants / cafes in Cardiff?

Evening all,

Hubby and I are spending two nights in Cardiff from Sunday for his birthday, he hasn't been there for years and I never have so we're at a loss for places to eat at - can anyone recommend us some decent places to try?

It really depends what you want and how much you want to pay.

This one is probably the best and certainly the most expensive in the area (in nearby Penarth)

At the other end of the scale Cardiff city centre is full of all the usual chain restaurants - our favourite amongst these is Jamie's Italian
  • plenty down mermaid quay, and in the city centre in & around St Davids2... (google both),

Lots of independent cafes in the shopping arcades. Mint and Mustard is a great Indian, but outside the centre. I would avoid The Spice Merchant Indian.
