Didn't know if we would do Vegas this year...I definately felt Vegased out when we came back in November and with the poor dollar rate didn't even think about booking .......but my lovelyOH has just booked for us to go Nov for a week in TI.We have stayed in TI many times and it is one of my favourites....having done both the Venetian (loved it) and the Wynn (very pretentious) last year and still preferring that end of the strip it is perfect position for me.Guess I will have to start playing Myvegas again, already got 500,000 Lps to use and praying the dollar bucks up before then.

I went down to literally zero after getting the two night Mirage reward the other day. I can never be bothered to play until we're a few months from a trip so never built up a huge stash of lps.

We really like TI too, we stayed there when we got married. Looking forward to being that end of the Strip again (Palazzo & Mirage so far). The last couple of trips we've been down the other end (predominantly Excalibur). I like the casinos down there but am a bit bored of that area. I'm not snobby, I think the rooms and pools at Excalibur are great - especially given the price - but really looking forward to trying out some supposedly nicer hotels this time. Arriving on a weekend where everywhere is so expensive was actually a blessing in disguise as we'd probably never have been able to justify paying Palazzo rates if the difference between those and Excalibur had been more normal! Ten years of being very MSE to clear our mortgage early has meant frugality has become quite deeply ingrained!

Wooooohooooooo, Vegas here we come!! :D:D
Ok, slightly different holiday this time, as taking a 14yr old....
But roll on end of May !!
Flight cost doing the LA thing worked out to be £1098 in the end, skipping the last leg of the flight...
Now to work on the Free Hotels ! :D
That's a good deal,:) I can't see flights for being much lower especially over a school holiday period.

We have stayed at the Mirage about 4 times and again it one of my favourite hotels, particularly when we go in June .The reason I love TI is that little walkway over to Fashion Show Mall !! I absolutely loved the Venetian, the size of the room with it being split level with a proper seating/dining area was amazing. The pool area was beautiful too.

Congrats on repaying your mortgage early:) We prefer the center strip mirage/TI area but stayed in the Delano in December mainly because the deal we had. There is more going on around Mirage area but if I can get the same deal at the Delano again I would definitely stay that end again. I think there is a balance between being MSE and having comfort/luxury for a short time;)

    Hi All

I've not been on the forum for some time as I had a year off from Vegas. However, I'm booked up for April 3rd - 12th. A bit of an odd one for me this time as I'll be playing third wheel to my fairly newly married friends! They really wanted to go to Vegas but, in spite of my encouragement, were too intimidated to go without someone who knows the place well. So I agreed to go with them as long as I could find a bargain flight for us. I did. An unusual one (Southampton - Amsterdam - Salt Lake City- Las Vegas - LAX - Amsterdam - Southampton with KLM) but for £350 I'm willing to try the 2 short layovers each way!

I will probably find myself steering my friends in the right direction and then leaving them to it most days, so it's as good as a solo trip for me.

I noticed that there was a discussion on solo Vegas trips earlier in the thread. I just wanted to point out that there's a fast growing (5023 members currently) "Solo Las Vegas" Facebook group which is really friendly and welcoming. People arrange open invitation gatherings regularly. An excellent way to meet new friends from all over the world. I'll probably put out a "who fancies going for a pint" invitation while I'm there (and my friends are busy doing couply stuff!), and see what happens. I have gone solo before and did similar in the now defunct "Vegas Rover" FB group and had a good time. I've kept in touch with a few people I met too.

On the subject of MyVegas rewards, I've just had a browse and I have to say, the current offerings are a little disappointing. I have almost 1.3 million LPs to spend, but I think I'm going to be hard pushed to make much of a dent in it as it seems that an awful lot of the rewards require an MGM hotel stay.

We're staying at The Jockey Club (my second time of staying there) so we have an apartment with separate rooms - ideal for a party of 3, excellent location, cheaper than 2 hotel rooms and no resort fees!!!

I now need to scan the coupon sites as well as Groupon, Travel Zoo and Living Social to see what bargains are knocking around at the moment. Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

    From Head for Points...

"The Aer Lingus CEO, Stephen Kavanagh, has also announced plans to fly from Dublin to Las Vegas. No start date has been announced and the airline has not decided whether to run it as a Winter-only route or year-round."

This would make DUB even more attractive as a starting point.
  • Any advice on where to eat in or near by the Rio? We are going to see Penn and Teller there

    I would suggest:-

Gold Coast Buffet (low cost option)
    Rio Buffet

I believe the Chinese in the Gold Coast is good if you like Chinese food, and if it's still there. I wouldn't know personally as I don't really eat that type of food.
  • I'm sure I saw flights for September (ideally 2nd to 16th) for under £600 the other week, but suddenly they all seem to be over £700 again!! Looking for Glasgow to either Vegas, or LAX or Phoenix maybe, or even a open jaw arriving at LAX/Phoenix and home from Vegas.

Anyone know if there will be another BA sale?

  • Hi,

A group (10-15) of us are looking to go to Vegas for an adults only holiday to celebrate a special birthday in October 18. I know it's very early but we need to plan ahead for childcare etc so I'm starting to look at options and get a feel for likely costs. We'll be wanting to stay somewhere nice (4 star min) in the strip and ideally fly from Manchester. Sure these are the kind of questions that are asked on here a lot but could some of the experts help us with these:

When will be the best time to book?
Which sites offer the best deals?
Given the number of us would there be any discounts available for group bookings?
Should we look at flights and hotels separately or packages?
Are there any good vouchers sites for things to do when you get there?
Any tips on place to stay/things to do (we already have a short list which includes a pool party and a boxing match if there's one on).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
