DRO - Getting Married and Partners Credit File

My partner has been told by a manager at his workplace that if I get a DRO it will effect HIS ability for a possible promotion IF we were to get married. Even after the initial 12 month period and for the next 6 years. We have no plans to get married YET but just want to know how true this actually is... He works for a well known door-to-door loan company so they have credit check all employers. Will my DRO really show on his credit file if we were to get married?

    Hi happy90

Your credit file could be linked with your partner's if you have a 'financial connection'. That is a joint bank account or any joint credit. However being married makes absolutely no difference to this.

It might be feasible that if you had a financial connection and your partner was credit checked it could have an impact. It depends on the criteria of the employer. However we would usually expect it to be the person who has the DRO that might have their employment affected. Your partner could try and get a second opinion from another manager, HR department or trade union/professional body.

Getting married does not create a financial link between you.

Either the manager does not completely understand the process, or they are being deliberately obstructive.

Only joint financial products such as a joint bank account will create such a link.

I would be carful what information you/he shares with his employer if that is the reaction you get.
