From benefits back to work calculator

Hi,

Anyone know where i can find a calculator that can tell me what salary i need to get to get off benefits but to not be worse off.

    You can model different scenarios and what you would be entitled to on this calculator. You can ask the JCP and they can also do a calculation. In most scenarios you would be better off working than on benefits, even minimum wage as you are entitled to different benefits to top up your earnings.

    Another great way of doing it is making an appointment with job centre and they'll do a better off calculation for you. Depending on how long you've been on benefits and what benefits you are on you could get grants for going back to work. You could also get some housing benefit and council tax benefit. Then there's working tax credit and (if you have any children) child tax credit.

    Probably better to go to a CAB or welfare rights organisation, not everyone in JCPwould be aware of different problems within the benefit system
    Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

    It's unusual to be worse off in work, unless your travel to work costs are high or you're getting SMI (mortgage interest support).
