    1.
How many claimants have committed suicide while under ATOS Investigation?
    1a.
Within 6 months of being investigated?

    2.
Why does ATOS ignore medical opinion from consultants, patients GP etc?.

    3.
What qualifications do ATOS medical staff have in order to reach an opinion, without proper medical investigation?.

First of all can I thank you for answering my questions which I originally asked on 12th January. Can I take it that I should expect my other question originally posted at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=58600685&postcount=148 on 14th January will be answered in the next couple of days?

I understand that you cannot comment on my case specifically but can I first of all point out the contradictions in your reply and note that both of these replies were posted in the same response (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=58995983&postcount=666):
all referrals will be reviewed initially and there could be a variety of factors that might result in a need for a face to face assessment rather than the provision of advice straight away to the DWP. For example, it might be the case that the first time additional information was requested from your GP and received, but the second year it wasn’t received, but it is very difficult to comment on the specific reasons in your own situation.

Next answer in the same post

A GP normally holds all patient records, from any additional health professionals they might be seeing or have seen, so it is usually most appropriate to contact the GP. However, it is not always the case that a request is made to any health professional if, based on the questionnaire and any other information sent in, it appears that a face to face assessment will be required.

Can you please explain this because unless I am reading your response incorrectly, you are suggesting that when my first ESA50 was submitted, there was enough information in there (and possibly supplied by my GP) to make a decision and award me ESA. The following year when the ESA50 was more or less identical you decided not to contact my GP and instead just call me in for a WCA.

Further more, if you only contact my GP for information why do you ask the highlighted question of page 4 of the ESA50 form?
    ESA50_Page_4_zps43862e2e.jpg
As I am under the care of a Consultant Psychiatrist and a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) I had not seen my GP about my conditions for more than 4 years as the GP acknowledges that the Consultant Psychiatrist and CPN are specialists and she is not. Ironically, since receiving the results of the WCA I now have to see my GP to provide sick notes whilst the appeal is being processed. The GP provides the sick notes based on the opinion of both the CPN and Consultant psychiatrist.

Finally, and I know I might well live to regret asking this question, but if and I must stress the word IF, I agree to securely provide my details, would you be willing to provide the reason why my second (and almost identical) ESA50 was sent for a WCA when the first on was deemed to be enough to award ESA?

Given that Atos rarely take any notice of clinical details sent in by medically qualified doctors and consultants ( I wonder why!!!) it seems pointless asking that question on the ESA50.

You say In this post that the complaint process is in a leaflet.

But when you were asked about this the other day you told us that.

    Hi everyone

Just a reminder of the original remit.

Subjects it can answer questions on include:

    • Clarifications about the Work Capability Assessment questionnaire
    • Appointments/Assessments
    • Travel and travel expenses to the assessment
    • Home visits
    • Health Care Professionals and their qualifications (but not specific individuals)

It won't be able to answer questions on:

    • The policy for decisions itself (DWP is responsible for this, not Atos)
    • The appeals process
    • The DWP staff who made the decision
    • Questions that would need your personal details
    • It can obviously only answer questions on the parts of the ESA Work Capability Assessment it carries out.

    Thanks!

    Question for the rep...

Does a HCP' specifically a NURSE have to identify themselves with their name and registration number in the same way that a Doctor must tell you his or her GMC number.

    Atos Rep.

How many official complaints have been lodged against ATOS since they started the WCA?

Thanks for the advice and the confirmation. Sorry to ask another question. How many times roughly would you try phoning a client before sending a letter? And if you did ring would it be shown as a Private number? I only ask this because a private number phoned today. Again thanks for all your replies and help. :)
Mordred12, we would try up to 3 times over a 3 day period. The number shown would be our contact centre number 0800 2888777

    vvvvvvvvvvvv,

You are right, although the question that I responded to was regarding appointments being made, which is the number I said, there may be reasons later on in exceptional circumstances for a small number of calls to be made from other numbers. The number you mention is one of the assessment centres. A call may be made from there to advise if an appointment needs to be changed, possibly at shorter notice than could be done by post. This should be the number on your appointment letter though, so it would be possible to identify it in advance.
    Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Atos Healthcare. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I have had calls from that number regarding an appointment being made though. And,which assessment centre does it come from because it is NOT the assessment centre i have attended because that 0121 number is from west bromwich,a million miles from me.Sorry but this is the ONLY number i knowingly have had ATOS calls from.

Just remembered i did get a "short notice" call once to say my appointment was delayed a little that day.It came from my local assessment centre with my local dialling code, not the 0121 so to say that number is used for that reason is again wrong.
