Broken Hygena Hob Ignition

I have a built-in Hygena gas hob with four burners. The ignition has just stopped working for no apparent reason. Previously it would click and light the burners when I turned the gas on but now there's no response when I press the button.

I've tried switching the cooker off at the wall and back on again but that didn't make any difference. Is there a battery which needs replacing? How do I access it? Could it be related to the weather and rectify itself when it warms up a bit? Or am I destined to use one of those inconvenient long-handled lights in the future?

I have the exact same problem.

Months ago the switch stopped sparking, this was no great problem as we used a match to ignite the gas.

However the past week, whenever we turn the cooker on at the mains switch all 4 hobs start constantly sparking, this seems to come and go but when its sparking continously it is very annoying.

As gas etc is involved I'm reluctant to tamper with but I feel a bit peeved at spending money on a specialist contractor to solve what will more than likely be a 30 second repair.

A gas hob should be on a plug with a max 5amp fuse. Have you tested the fuse to make sure it isnt that?

3 amp fuse.

The hygena Hobs weren't much cop to be honest, I used to do the warranty work on them, like Steve says the first port of call is the fuse, the spark gen/ignition switch is a combined unit if you can still get it but it's not a DIY job !!!
