I hope someone can help me. I was made Bankrupt in February this year by HMRC for £82,000. I had a meeting with the receiver and i provided proof of all debts, and savings i had along with my bank statements etc and any assets which is only my car which is worth around £2500. Since then i have heard nothing from anyone, it has now been over 8 months and i have not heard a thing from anybody. I have also checked my credit file and it has the bankruptcy on there with a £0 balance. Hope someone can give me some advice. Many thanks, Neil.

With the OR, the best policy is to speak when your are spoken to. They wont have forgotten you, just sit tight and if they need you - they'll call.0

TheGardener, as always, is spot on. Do not rock the boat. In 4 months you will be discharged and they can take no further action.
Sit under the radar, even if it causes a few sleepless nights, it is better than the car and assets (disclosed, as you are required to) being taken away.
On the car, who said it was worth £2,500? They depreciate quickly, so if you hear anything, just state it is necessary for travel to work and is now worth significantly less.0 -
Thank you for the advice. I was just getting concerned as when I first saw the OS he said it should take about 6 weeks but has now been 7 months and not heard a thing. This is all new to me so wasn't sure how it all works. As for the car, I'm only going by what others cars are selling for that are the same as mine so is a rough figure. What happens after the 12 months?0

You are discharged from bankruptcy and the OR can't do anything as he's lost the chance.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Bankruptcy can help rid you of debt that would otherwise take years to clear. But it has serious implication for your future and should never be undertake lightly.0

By all means, if you have something positive to add, feel free to frequent, but the quoted post is unnecessary, inaccurate and (as a grammar Nazi) poorly written.0 -
She/ he seems to be spamming the Internet using google translate or similar to try to flog some kind of screening service/ phishing .Doubt very much she's in the USA.0

So even though I will be discharged what will happen on my credit file, it currently has a zero balance under the bankruptcy section.0

Cleaning up your credit file is something not worth doing until a month or two after your auto discharge. Have you still not heard anything from the OR? If not then sit tight and wait - but be prepared for the OR to pop up anytime - once your AD date has come and gone - then you can start cleaning things up.0

I've still not heard anything from them and my year is up next March so not sure what to expect. I thought I may have heard something by now. If they do not contact me by March then what would happen to a bank account I had frozen with money in it, would the money have been taken by the OR?0
