VJsmum- do you know I swore it was "exit followed by a bear " it must be because I had one of the course text books which "explains" it all in English underneath !! "A" level English was a mighty long time ago for me ;)

    It's only because i thought "exeunt" was such a bl00dy stoopid word!:D

  • My five for today;

    1. The 'bug smoothie ' soup was yummy and now I'm pleased rather than afraid that I have a weeks worth of it :T

    2. Finished the Xmas decorations, house is looking festive and I am getting a bit excited about the big day now.

    3. My best friend just popped round with a belated birthday present and it is fab, hilarious and so 'me'. That's why she's been my bestie for 20 years!

    4. Chinese style pork belly, homemade coleslaw and corn on the cob for tea. It was delicious if I do say so myself.

    5. About to get a lovely hot bubbly bath and then I'm going to follow it up with a hot chocolate and some sofa snuggles.

the rest of mine for today

    3. DD's parents' evening :T the teachers were sooo effusive we joked we wouldn't get her head through the door. Bearing in mind this was the child who I couldn't get to go to the school 6 or 7 weeks ago and who was a quivering, crying wreck.
    4. Spag bog for tea - left overs from a previous meal. Meant tea was on the table less than 10 minutes after getting in.
    5. Watching clips of Calamity Jane on iplayer whilst i did some ironing. Random i know but I love that film.. :o

    Evening

Today has been a bit subdued at work as found out someone we used to work with died over the weekend. He was a very outspoken but lovely man and will be greatly missed.

    Anyway pleasures for today,
    1. Even though slept in this morning OH and DD left with packed lunches and breakfasts as had got most of it ready the night before. I was naughty and used a voucher I had for a chicken satay wrap, was very yummy.
    2. Completed another stage of Operation Christmas suprise and posted christmas presents to parents and others.:D
    3. There were lots of leftovers from an Exec lunch today so have put a portion of curry and rice in the fridge for my lunch tomorrow and have brought home a plastic pot full of fruit salad which OH can use to make a smoothie.
    4. Picked up a free copy of the snowman activity book thanks to a coupon in my trolley find copy of the Radio Times. Will give to friends DD.
    5. Met a deadline on time for the project I am working on and have just about got the final part finished just need to double check the data. Keeping fingers crossed that the bit that the contractors do all goes well tonight as this is the scariest part of the project so far.

Hugs to all who need them
  • It’s day 5 of the head pain that pain killers are doing little for and what helped a little, though may have made me look even more nuts:o was on the way home as I happened to get a seat on the trains, I put my head in my hands – hard and fell asleep a bit to be honest. The pain is still there but it numbed it a bit.

    1. Work was silly busy kind of like it, looking forward to the end of the week thou as thats me done for 3 weeks!!!!:j

    2. We will go away for Christmas and leave an emergency contact.:)
    3. Took the easy but not MSE way out tonight with pizza takeaway, leaving dh the “free one” for lunch tomorrow, :p
Remebered to food plan for tomorrow and have food in the fridge to defrost

    9. Was naughty, both financially and calorifically, as I had deelish quorn Chinese takeout for dinner tonight. Nomnomnom.......should have had a cupasoup and a sarnie, but oh my goodness it was divine!

Broomstick great minds indeed, and I love Flanders and Swann. I can just imagine the rendings of the Wompom and The Gas Man Cometh as you drove along :)
Mhags good to hear about OH's check-up, he's come such a long way. You'll need build him up with lots of warming food in prep for your trip home, it's bitterly cold now
missmoneysave you have been industrious, you'll need introduce your friend to MSE
OT I used to feel sorry for the DC's horses/ponies out in the winter (and was told I'm too soft), hope they're all rugged up and warm like I have been all day!
VJsmum well done your DD, what a turn-around :T
Frith pleased you don't have to make the trip tomorrow, it sounds pretty awful where you are
Chicken I'm loving the Claridges series, sounds like you could be enjoying the real thing in the not too distant future
Tealady you've been very busy chalking up the OS's with the free Snowman, lunch and fruit salad, nice one (or three) You can definitely be forgiven the wrap :D
PK hope the headache has gone now, or by morning at latest.
Kittikins congrats on getting the interview :j

    1. Friend called this morning and we went to the local market town for some shopping but didn't stay long, couldn't breathe in the icy air and was grateful to get home.
    2. Had tea and hot sausage roll in Greigs
    3. Only bought fruit & veg in the market. Bought persimmons which I've not tried before and don't think I'll try again, they taste like a cross between tomatoes and mango. Weird!
    4. Had a siesta this afternoon
    5. Another long chat with DS on the phone, looks like uni is finished for Christmas and he's at a bit of a loose end. He could always come home and do some odds and ends for me! (And I know he often reads my posts because he tells me. Looks like I have two stalkers BoP, what it is to be popular :p)

    Sleep tight :)
  • Brrrrr ! Morning all!

PK (hugs)) - get well know !

Tealady - I am sorry for your loss x

Sparrer - My Dad had COPD and the extremes in temperature really affected his breathing . Not nice for you at all -as I know that you like being out and about keeping busy.
I loved putting my hands under my horses stable rugs , especially when I had just clipped them out and they were all smooth and warm and a different colour!

    VJsmum- clever DD

    keep warm all !

Started to think about posting last night and felt so tired that I gave up and had another long night's sleep. My cold seems to have come back but at least I have the energy now to keep going. :)

    Five recent pleasures then:

    1. Sports coaching has finished for the year and so now I can do a final inventory and wash of the kit and put it all away. We have four weeks off which, much as I love supporting all these young sportspeople, I'm very glad about not to be having to do the driving in this weather. :T

    2. Our rotary washing line is looking spectacular this morning. The whole garden is thickly frosted and all the spiders' webs on the middle of the line are hanging down like lace made out of aran wool!

    3. Very good satsumas for breakfast.

    4. DS2 has given me one of his jumpers - lovely, good quality cotton one which fits me fine. Pleased to have a new addition to my wardrobe.

    5. I have enough gift vouchers to a specialist shop (thanks to some recent birthday gifts and added to some I had already) to buy myself a pair of good quality pinking shears. I've just checked the shop's prices and it's exact.:D Am looking forward, very much, to going and buying these. May plan a trip into town tomorrow.

Keep warm on this freezing day,

    B x

(Ugh... just brought the thermometer in from outside and it's minus three at lunchtime.)
