    Morning Crunchy,

£70 on a takeaway , did he buy one of everything :rotfl:
Yesterday sounds nice for you guys and we have to do these things every now and again I reckon! xx

Ha! He bought 4 x curry and rice, naans, poppadoms, chutneys and dips, samosas and bajis, 4 large pizzas, 2 crates of beer, 2 tubs of b and j s ice cream and a pack of magnums. It was ridiculous. And he knows it! He can't be trusted anymore. We had he leftover pizza for our picnic yesterday.

We certainly do need to do these things every so often.

I'm having an eat the cupboards and freezer empty session before we buy anymore food. Tonight we are having turkey breasts with leftover dregs of a bag of oven chips, gnocchi and frozen mash just to use it up.

Also took a load of stuff to the charity shop today and spent an hour with my children at the park so feeling very virtuous!!

Must really try and be more frugal.

I've done some sums and we will have to pair the car excess into credit card tonne swiftly paid off when I get paid next week. Life has happened and I'm just going to have to get over it. In fact - I already have.

We have £80 to last us 2 weeks which should be fine so long as we don't go too crazy. Famous last words (this is spending money).

We also have about £150 food money which I'm determined not to go over with.

Husband is on holiday this week so going to enjoy some time off as a family before schools are back on Tuesday. I've told him we have got to be frugal after his last escapade!!!

Today has been a nsd!!!! I haven't even left the house!!

I think I'm going to have to go to mr a tomorrow as we are running out of fresh stuff.

Plod plod plodding this debt away!!

Crunchy, your husband sounds very like mine! Good most of the time (but hates being told 'no') and when he spends, he SPENDS. I think it's hard for him because I'm the one in control of the purse strings (we're both happy with this) so he doesn't need to do the firefighting when the pots go beyond empty.

You seem to be on track for the rest of the month, though :)

July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Yes JoJoC they sound very similar!!

Quick update - the bank have told us that as of today the loan is actually £887 rather than £950 so very pleased with that! Total debt now £4075 excluding the £250 excess i just had to pay for the car!! That will be paid off in a weeks time anyway so im not even counting it.

I still haven't heard anything about my 0% card. I will ring them tomorrow. Part of me doesn't want it now anyway. Maybe I will cancel it.

Really must do some school work tonight. (sad face).

    Afternoon all!!

Trying to enjoy a lovely day off with husband but 2.5 year old dd keeps whingeing and it's driving us crazy. He's taken them off to the post office so I have 5 mins to update you on the credit card situation as I am looking to beyond 16 days time when we will become 'loan free' for the first time in 15 years!!!

So I rang the credit card company and my card and pin are in the post. One of the balances has been transferrred but not the other as it's held with the same company - very annoying. I wanted to cancel it but they have already transferred the balance - really cross that no one had told me. So basically this is the situation with credit cards.....

    We now have 3....

    - husbands bank one - balance is £250 plus some work expenses that he has already claimed for and we now face a long wait for as the conpany are rubbish at repaying. Expenses are about £350. Min payment about £15 a month

    - my 0% one - balance is £600 for dresser and the min payment is £100 a month.

    - husbands 0% - balance is £2588. I have made a 10x10 bingo square for this one. Each square represents £25. Min payment is £59 on the 28th April.

So this is the plan of action

    - my 0% runs for the time being. Definitely will be paid off in 6 months though.
    - in the 28th April pay approx £25 off husbands 0% cc plus with min payment it will be £2500 allowing neat squares of £25.
    - husband pays off loan!!!!! £887 ish.
    - we also pay off £250 excess.
    - anything extra for may goes on his cc to get it down to £0. When the expenses eventually come through they can go on the bigger balance card.
    - then slush away the FINAL £2500 colouring each £25 square as we go using what we can over the next few months.

I really want to start long term savings again but I think husband might want to just get rid of this. We shall see. He REALLY needs to boost his pension!!

    - once this is paid off - clear my 0% and finally be DEBT FREE!!!!!!!

    As easy as that!

First step is counting down till loan freeness!! 16 days to go!!!!

I really can't believe that this actually might happen soon!

    Afternoon all!

2 weeks today we will be loan free!!

I'm also itching to get started on this 'bingo card' I've made.

Husband and I were supposed to do lots of useful stuff around the house but we have both just collapsed in a heap today - him due to a 10 mile run this am and me because I did HIIT two days ago and my thighs are still burning!!

I'm also feeling the back to school blues already and had a little cry today (might also be that time of the month). Husband is going to apply for a contracting job tonight and I'm going to do some work to ease the burden. Then he is going out for the day tomorrow so I can get myself prepared for the return to school.

I've been doing some spreadsheet staring hoping that the big credit card will disappear but it hasn't lol! I'm going to have to work at it.

We have paid £8600 of debt off this year so far - in 4 months!! The final £2500 is going to be the hardest. But we can do it. Just giving myself a little talking to!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!

    Morning diary,

I'm off work today with a migraine. Its just about bearable with my own children but I cant bear to be in a room full of 30 others. As usual feel guilty and I know I will be on the back foot next week but hey ho it can't be helped. Its actually come on because yesterday was the first day of detoxing - no sugar, coffee, flour, fruit etc just meat or fish, veg, eggs, natural yogurt, quinoa or rice. I must be full of toxins as I feel headachy, sick, shaky and panicky. Rubbish. I hope to feel amazing in a few days time. I'm currently supping green tea on the sofa.

So I've just done the banking and after siphoning off money for childcare, I have paid £400 off of the loan so it now stands at £487 ish, we have hit £3675 of total debt, 71% paid off or £9000 in total!!

    Very very pleased with that.

Wow, I can't believe you're getting so close to paying off that loan. Well done!

Sorry to hear about the migrane but you're doing the right thing taking the time out to recover. The detox sounds great, I'll look forward to hearing tales of you bounding about with an abundance of energy next week!
