Savings rates while living abroad

I have a substantial amount from rental income with Nationwide. Because I am currently overseas I cannot get a decent interest rate on my savings. It is now down to 0.50% . I see them offering 5% for a year fixed but tell me that is the best I can get as I am living in Ireland at the moment.
Any advise, I don't mind moving to another bank,
Feel used !

I can't get a decent rate either, I'm living in UK!!

5% sounds like drip feeding a regular saver.

you may struggle to get any higher then you are getting with a non UK address and this would be the same if you moved banks as not all banks allow new accounts for non UK residents.

I wish you luck in your search though, but I think 0.50 is a good rate for non UK.

Both Nationwide and TSB offer 5% on smallish balances (£2.5k/£2k) in their current accounts.

  • Thank for the reply, I know I can't move banks. In fact I tried to open a better savings account while in the UK, with Nationwide and they said they can't help me as I no longer have a UK address
