Blocking radiator

Hello,

I'm looking at getting a length of worktop or other such material fitted to use as a desk/large work area.

This would be the width of a small box room and go under the window. The radiator would likely become be underneath.

Is it best to cut a slot so the heat can still rise? I don't want the room to be cold or equipment under the counter to get hot!

    If it's a modern convection radiator it would be best to have a gap to allow the heat to rise. It will probably still heat the room without one but it will take longer and you'll have a cold spot above the desk.

    I've had a situation similar to this when using a small convector heater rather than the radiator in my small office.

    The radiator is vented behind the desk, but if I put the convector under there, in front of it, too much hot air goes into my face and quickly creates a stuffy feeling.

    So, far from having a cold spot, I think you might feel warm in the wrong way when sitting there, without any rear vent.
